IWBTG (I Wanna Be The Guy)

I Wanna Be The Guy or better known as IWBTG is not exactly a simple love story. Well, it is about a dude going on an adventure in order to become THE guy. It doesn't stop there, I'll tell you off the bat that it is extremely difficult. However, if you are a glutton for punishment and love being pushed around into complicated, near impossible feats; you'll probably hold this game close to your heart. Another thing to note is that if you are a hardcore NES or SNES fan, you'll be grinning from ear to ear when playing this game. IWBTG combines modded levels of your favorite NES games like Megaman, Battletoads and even Contra; creating a one-of-a-kind, hair-pulling experience. Definitely a hardcore game worth checking out whether you loved Nintendo or not.

Crazy Over Goo

Crazy Over Goo is the brainchild of quirky and entertaining game developer, Banov. This little platformer lets you control a little yellow goo or ball that is in pursuit of his one and only. Although it's not exactly a sequel, it was made as a follow-up to the developer's Assassin Blue. The game is actually a simple point and click adventure that contains 50 or so levels of fun things that you need to do. It also offers a cool level editor as well as plenty of unlockables to enjoy. Crazy Over Goo was initially released back in 2009 and was first known as Yellow Goo Love. If you need something simple but definitely entertaining to play, then you're looking at that game. Tiny Barbarian

Tiny Barbarian is a cute little platformer where you play a minuscule barbarian who falls in love with the enemy. In this case, a mysterious frost woman who appears out of nowhere bringing in hordes of zombies, wolves and other enemies down your path. The game is simple but it's very entertaining and fun to play. It was developed by Michael Stearns and the music was especially created by Jeff Ball. It's a game worth checking out. suteF

SuteF is a complicated and challenging puzzle platformer that will truly delight your senses. It's a cool game where you will need to shove around boxes, avoid laser beams, scale walls and activate switches. Your main goal for doing this would be escape from the "Abyss." This game is actually an updated version of an eerie, but interesting game called Fetus. Of course, suteF is more advanced and fleshed out. It contains new mechanics that will intrigue and challenge both old and new gamers alike. Each puzzle is creatively done, plus the entire game resonates with a semi dark atmosphere without going overboard. This one easily takes the cake as among the best puzzle games of 2010.

Sombreros

Sombreros is a remake of an old Action 52 game. It's given new life, better gameplay, not to mention, great graphics by Dustin Gunn. In this game, you play a Mexican packing a big gun and an even bigger sombrero. Your main objective is to collect more of these giant hats from your enemies. Go on a shootout or simply duel with them one by one. The game is pretty interesting. It's a bit on the short side but definitely worth your while. Created as an Action 52 remake, this arcade shooter features top down shooting. You can sense the many inspirations from western movies and games as well as in the original game.

Chaser

Chaser is a simple art game that has a straightforward gameplay. All you have to do is chase a blue figure man and keep him in the screen for as long as you can. The longer you can do this, the higher the score you'll get. It's really this basic. The blue dude will constantly run away from you so you have to keep chasing him. You'll start slow but eventually you'll be able to increase your speed while collecting various things as you go along. Even though the game has a simple premise, it's fairly addicting especially once you start off. It can easily consume hours and hours of your time without you noticing. If you're up for this, then give this one a go.

Hazard: The Journey of Life

Hazard: The Journey of Life is a dreamlike new game that takes you on a journey through life. It's a first person game where you don't fire any guns or even have any enemies. Instead, it focuses on taking you to a trip down the many facets and complexities of life. The game was among the Grand Prize Winner in the Make Something Unreal as well as awarded Best Game in Game Connect Asia Pacific. The game features a unique and mindblowing graphic design that places a visual form in the abstract concepts of life. It's an interesting 3D adventure game that requires patience and an open mind in trying to figure out what life wants you to do. Definitely a must-try if you are into challenging experimental games.

Snakes of Avalon

Snakes of Avalon is a dark game that's all about "alcohol incapacitation and people obsessed with murdering their other half." Playing the game means you have to be prepared for a lot of weirdness. In the game, you play Jack; a hobo looking alcoholic who hears talking fishes and zombies. He overhears a woman and his lover plotting murder against her husband. Jack decides he won't accept it and tried to stop them. The game features 90 minutes of surreal gameplay and storyline. If you play this game, keep in mind that the aftereffects might last longer after you're done. It's designed and coded by, Igor Hardy and Alex vand der Wijst while Thomas Regin is credited for creating the soundtrack. Give it a go.

Loop Raccord

Loop Raccord (or Raccord Loop) is a cool and unique game that's a current nominee for the upcoming 2011 IGF Nuovo Award. Developed according to the Experimental Gameplay Project's Neverending theme, the game showcases experimental gameplay that is interesting and captivating. The gameplay is a bit tricky to explain. Basically, you have to find the exact moment in an animated video or film and sync it with the next roll of video. Your goal is to create an infinite loop of movement by connecting every single video clip. Even though it's a bit tricky to do, there's no denying that it's a lot of fun. Created by Nicolai Troshinsky, it's one of the most original games out there. Just a word of warning though, it is a bit addictive but keep in mind that there's really no real end to the game.
