Indie Rock

The Suits: Navy

Better get your “suits” on, because we’re in for a lot of good tunes! Electro-rock acts are in so much abundance nowadays, you can’t really tell which is which. Luckily, for The Suits, their sound is distinct and sonic enough to stand up among their peers.

Moon/Ruin: Ocean

Want to go on a permanent haze? Try giving Moon/Ruin‘s lone EP a spin. Fronted by songwriter Kale Ogle, who’s incidentally the only member of the band, the collection Ocean is a formidable bag of tunes that’s set to keep you going on those hot, lazy nights.

The Eastern Sea: Summer Tour Sampler

Admit it: you are a sucker for some good ‘ol indie rock. This time around, delivering the goods are last year’s breakout act, The Eastern Sea, whose second offering Plague has wiped out all doubts of their success.

ladada: ladada

Ever heard of a song that makes you go “ladada”? Try listening to the quirky stylings of ladada. As a project of Baby Josy (we wonder if that’s his real name), he presents his self-titled second effort ladada – a beautiful mess of everything positive, lively, and brimming with phosphorescence under the umbrella term “soda pop”.

Pilots in Orbit: Did You Grow Up Too Fast?

Heaps of college rock not enough for you? Let our distinguished pilots take you to orbit. Formed during February 2009 in New Jersey, Pilots in Orbit consists of lead singer/guitarist Sal Montalvo, bassist Andy Rivera, drummer Nikko Whitt, and guitarist/backup vocalist Adrian Amador. ‘Did You Grow Up Too Fast?’ is their debut EP effort.

Tearjerker: Hiding

Where have the good tunes been ‘hiding’? In Tearjerker’s stash of an EP! Canadian indie band Tearjerker has been seeing a recent surge on its following, a long way since their first LP in 2009 (“Slouching”). However, Micah Bonte, Trevor Hawkins, and Taylor Shute refuse to stray from what they play best: trippy pop music.

Kit Oh Nein!: KON!

Feel-good psych punk with a touch of indie rock is one way to describe Kit Oh Nein!'s music. The three piece band hails from Detroit/NYC and seems to know their way around the sound. Led by frontman Ryan Milligan from The Hotwalls, KON! (an acronym of the band's name) is the group's debut record. The album contains 10 tracks that run circles around punk, pop, and psychedelic indie rock. Enveloped in raw energy as well as a hazy indie rock club vibe, it's hard to believe the entire set of tracks were recorded in only 3 days. This is one of those debut albums worth checking out if you like dirty, cerebral indie punk rock.

Nueva Noventa: Colors

A product of years of work and countless rehearsals; Colors by Nueva Noventa contains a lushness that only time could have filled and created. Nueva Noventa is a four piece indie rock crew from Santiago, Chile. Their sound focuses on indie pop rock but also introduces elements of electronica once in awhile. There's nothing much out there about the band or the members themselves. It seems they're among the few bands who like to let their sound do all the talking instead. Frankly, this works just fine as their music is capable of communicating and reaching out to its audience.
