Chad VanGaalen “Soft Airplane – B-sides EP”

Canadian singer, Chad VanGaalen, released a wonderful sounding experimental indie rock album “Soft Airplane” last year. And after exactly a year, Chad, together with his record labels, Flemish Eye and SubPop, released “Soft Airplane – B-sides EP,” last September 15, 2009. If listeners loved his other albums, then they will surely love this one more. Chad is not only a musician he also designs his own covers for his albums. He loves drawing and illustrating. Combine that with his unique choice in music, did free himself from the ordinary indie folk rock genre.

Maya de Luna “Bar Stim.Art” – Cool Live Jazz with Bossa hints

One of the things that I love to do is to laze around one afternoon while reading a book and listening to good jazz music. While most jazz music features instrumental piano, drums and saxophone hints, Maya de Luna and Bruno Stimart paired up for this absolutely lovely live recording of jazz with hints of bossa nova. It makes you feel like swaying left and right as you listen to the music, with applauses and little dialogues in between songs.

Manu Chao & Radio La Colifata’s “Viva La Colifata” – Radio Crazy

Quick. Grab everything you know about what a music album should be. Now, grab everything you know about what music should be. Got it? okay. Put it in a box and hide it under the bed or tucked in a closet where it'll be safe from Manu Chao's latest musical project "Viva La Califata." Recorded in conjunction with Buenos Aires' notorious radio station, Radio La Colifata which is notorious by being staffed by current and ex-patients of a psychiatric hospital in the area.

Macon Greyson “This Machine Kills Hypocrisy” EP

“The maturation process is always ongoing, but we as a band have finally grown up. We are not worried about where we fit anymore. We are what we are,” says Macon Greyson. Further affirming their identity as a band is the newest EP called "This Machine Kills Hypocrisy". The four-track album is a perfect mix of gritty rock and melodic country with no inhibitions and most importantly, no confusion. After nine years since its birth in a small bar in Dallas called Adair's, Macon Greyson has finally found the right balance between a 70's rock sound and a dollop of country dirt - true as ever to their Southern roots.

Johnny Awesome “Separation Makes It Easy”

Who says separation makes things easy? I know I don't, but Johnny Awesome does - in his album, at least. This 11-track purely acoustic album showcases Johnny's talent in guitar-playing and singing, without much editing and just pure music - straight from the man's bedroom. Released under Creative Commons, Johnny urges people to listen to it, love it, hate it, pass it around...and everything else. But with lyrics, a voice and life such as his? You're sure to tell more people about this awesome guy rather than forget him and hate him.

Vate: Volt

Vate, a Mexican electro-music artist, is one certainly to be recommended. From the very beginning of Volt, his latest record, one finds that it is a release that cannot be neglected. There are some Kraftwerk influences there, and Turismo, the first tune of the LP, is a Tour de France for the modern era, when car rallies replaces bicycle ones. Orient Stress follows, and it's been the most energetic one composed by Vate, almost an EBM piece with a highly recomme

Spheriot “Bekennerschreiben” – techno and hard rock mashed up with indie pop, in English and German

Behind Spheriot is one man who literally does everything—from the composition of music to the recording of all his songs. The result? A provocative album entitled Bekennerschreiben. According to the singer and writer himself, all of the songs in the fourteen-track album is a result of music from the heart and head. They were all produced in Spheriot’s living room. For someone who just toys around with his Mac, Spheriot was able to impress with his surprisingly refreshing take on music.
