Staggered Crossing: Burgundy & Blue

Staggered Crossing has had their share of ups and downs; selling more than 20,000 albums, being signed (then dropped) from a major record label, and having a primary member of the group go through a near fatal accident. Despite the success and trials, Staggered Crossing still move forward and create great music. Burgundy & Blue is their latest offering and as expected, it carries 12 rock alternative pop tracks that's sure to impress fans and non-fans alike.

The Sovereigns: Pick It Up

During this day and age, I find it more and more difficult to find punk bands which sport the punk genre in a legitimate sense. However, recently, my ears have been rewarded with some of the scarce spoils in which rarely become available to a dedicated browser like myself. The album ‘Pick it up’ by ‘The Sovereigns’, resurrects the late 1980’s/early 1990’s version of ska-punk that many believe to have died long ago. Hysterical drum beats (with a tempo range between relatively fast to extremely rapid), catchy brass sections, walking bass lines and power chords strummed from a fanatically distorted guitar help to ensure that all of the desired boxes are ticked. These aspects then conglomerate to form a sound similar to that of Anti-flag, NOFX and Reel Big Fish. Additionally, the bands vocalist portals politically motivated and humerous lyrics through a rough and husky voice - while he also manages to stay in key. This deems the Sovereign’s music worthy of a wider audience and saves them from being restricted to only those of the traditional punk scene.

Benoit Stanek: 18

Soothing folk pop album that takes you on a journey to the French aisles. With beautiful acoustic guitar and soft melodic strumming, this album makes you feel as if you're sitting somewhere in a gorgeous French garden, enjoying a warm, sunny day. Benoit Stanek is an 18 year old student at the Lycee Louis-le-Grand in Paris, considered to be one of the most demanding secondary schools in France.

Kismet: Hiatus

Indie poprock quintet, Kismet, has released their very first full-length album, Hiatus. This eclectic, endearing album is released under popular indie netlabel, Beep! Beep! Back Up The Truck. With their post rock feel, great melancholic sound, emotional vocals and solid rhythms, it's hard not to like this band from the start. Kismet is definitely a talented Dutch band who's album deserves to be noted under your "must-listen" list.

The Feelds: We are no heros

The Feelds is actually a father and daughter duo that love to create music. For this tandem, what matters is their love for music and even though there are off beats here and there, what's important is their passion for their craft. We are no Heros (sic) is a beautiful and relaxing pop rock compilation that brings to mind indie pop sensation, Belle and Sebastian. A calming, melody filled album that's worth listening to.

Pinkle: Invertible

Sweet indie acoustic with charming lyrics and beautiful melodies. Post-doc student, Byrn Martin with his crew, moonlights as Pinkle; creating lovely acoustic indie music with endearing vocals and lyrics. Invertible is the group's current official release. It's a compilation of DIY tracks collected for over 5 years. If you ever need an album to play to help kickstart that relaxing, no-work afternoon, then this should be on your list.

The Wagner Logic: Easiest to Grab

Shoegazer indie rock that makes you feel "infinite." Perhaps the Wagner Logic has noticed the many criticisms they got after tagging "punk" along with their genre in Jamendo, because they removed it and left their description as indie, alternative, postrock and rock. Well, those words are more fitting in describing their beautifully melodic release, Easiest to Grab anyway. The Wagner Logic is composed of Jeremy Wagner and James Glave who by their own definition are "two mysterious friends challenged to a blood pact...making music in the woods." This is their very first release and for sure it's not going to be the last one.

Little Bribes: Little Bribes

Sweet voiced indie band in the same vein as Jack's Mannequin. Wisconsin natives, Little Bribes, is a perfect cookie cutter mold of some of the most popular indie bands today. With their sweet voiced vocals, reminiscent of Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate fame, plus the acoustic electronic touch just like Ben Gibbard's crew; it's hard not to fall for Little Bribes. The self titled debut album is packed with 11 indie pop tracks that makes for a great soundtrack to your everyday life. Although some songs could use professional quality recording, the album is pretty tight for an unsigned group.

This Is My Normal State: Angel Falls ++

Rock, ambient band that seeks to impress through a dreamy bassline and hauntingly sweet vocals. Hailing from Bristol, South West England, This Is My Normal State released their first recorded EP, Angel Falls ++ in 2009. This three song EP is filled with ambient rock sounds that comes with sweet, almost angelic, if you will, vocals from Yuka Kurihara. This album is the remastered version of their Angel Falls EP which the band recorded back in 2008. It is a quiet and slightly haunting trip down melodic soundscapes, much like walking into a colorful, beautiful but lifeless painting.
