Clear Soul Forces: Detroit Revolution(s)

Paying homage to old-school hip hop; expect to find a lot of smooth beats, expert rhymes and a laid-back atmosphere when you listen to Clear Soul Forces. The four piece crew is composed of L.A.Z., Ilajide, Noveliss and E-Fav. They first got together back in 2009 on a chance studio encounter and since then, the foursome have been recording and releasing various mixes, singles and compilations. Detroit Revolution serves as their debut LP and it's definitely something. Filled with solid rap skills and a catchy vibe; this is worth the check out.

Sudden Death of Stars: EP

Exuding folky shoegaze 70s style rock is something these Rennes septet is very good at. Sudden Death of Stars carry a hypnotizing sound that's great to wake up to on a lazy Saturday morning. This is their first EP and it contains 5-tracks recorded and released back in 2010. Employing old school instruments, analog recording and an ethereal psychedelic vibe, the album is a lush soundscape filled with interesting bits to please listeners. Apart from this, the boys have released a new record which should be up on the blog as well.

Fifty Grand: Fifty Grand

Fifty Grand's music can be best described as experimental dark electronic drone. The person behind the sound is Emily Onofrio, aka Fifty Grand. This is one of several records Aural Sects has released for their 2012 roster. Auralsects is a netlabel that works with independent artists in different departments of electronic music, from "dance, electro, pop, ambient, witch, juke, noise and anything we find compelling," according to the collective.

Actraiser: Phantomile EP

Actraiser's Phantomile EP is a resurrection of sorts for Cut Music. After taking a mini-hiatus, they're back with an explosive and equally catchy free EP for all of you electro ambient obsessives out there. Bristol-based producer Actraiser delivers an magnetic five track compilation that flourishes with mystical dubstep tracks while sticking to classic ambient rhythms and beats. This the first for the artist and as expected from previous Cut Music recordings; it's setting great groundwork for future releases.

Stik Figa: Best Of Stik Figa

If you've never heard of Stig Figa prior to this, then maybe it's time you get acquainted. Best of Stik Figa is an exciting mixtape collection compiled by the Kentucky rapper. Filled with catchy beats, great rap skills and backed up in production by the Mello Music Group, you're guaranteed a great listen with this one. The 10-track record contains only the best cuts done by the rapper since 2009 and currently offered for free download over at his BandCamp page.

Rufio: For Lights

Combining hip hop with his signature dub and synth style, Sacramento native, Rufio definitely delivers a different kind of vibe with his compilation. Better known as Ru [are you,] For Lights is the first compilation from the artist. It was initially conceived as a record that hopes to capture and explore the different facets of beauty in life. However, the album transformed over time and the artist decided to create it as a sort of story; "Almost like a soundtrack to a movie that hasn’t been produced yet," he relates.

Diamond Youth: Don’t Lose Your Cool

A remnant from the bygone era of 90s alternative pop rock, Diamond Youth would've have stood comfortably alongside bands like Jimmy Eat World. Don't Lose Your Cool rolls in with a bunch of catchy indie alternative tracks that resemble an awesome college radio playlist. You'd never guess it from their current sound but the members of the Baltimore crew came from hardcore bands, Trapped Under Ice and Down To Nothing. They're currently making waves with their brand of quieter yet catchy sound with this compilation.

His Statue Falls: Collisions Remixed

His Statue Falls is a unique band in that they combine various genres to weed out their own characteristic sound. Mixing techno, screamo, pop and breakdowns; the German group dubbed their sound as "techcore." Music catches on fast and soon they were playing at more than 150 shows and other groups started to create a similar sound. Not to be deterred, the band pushed forward and continue to mold their music according to their taste. Collisions Remixed is based off their debut record and contains a spin off of some of their best tracks from the album.

Taryn Leia Prescott: The Micah Pact EP

Simple yet captivating. That's one sentence that would best describe Taryn Leia Precott's sound. Her soulful voice is what captures the listeners attention while her skillful and melodic music creates a beautiful playground for her lyrics. The Micah Pact is a 7-track EP that the artist wrote over a period of years. It's a collection of tracks that expresses the artists' reaction as she grapples"with suffering, both my own and others’. Divorce, fatherlessness, loneliness, broken families, disease, poverty, untimely death...." The album is an answer of sorts and a way of understanding and coping as well.
