Gun Bros

If you have an affinity for shooter games where you get to be the hero, shoot tons of bad guys and eventually save the day, Gun Bros is for you. The storyline isn't much, in fact, it's as predictable as can be. You're simply a gun toting special soldier who is bent on carrying your mission: "to protect the cosmos from the Tyrannical Oppressors of Life known as T.O.O.L." Armed with tons and tons of guns, you have to defend yourself against waves of enemies. They start off quite easy to kill but as you progress, you'll encounter bigger bad guys that'll test your skills. The game is offered absolutely free and plays on your iOs and Android devices beautifully.

Ichi (Jay Van Hutten)

Single button games should be easy, right? Besides, pressing one button to play and defeat the entire game can't be that hard. However, Ichi might just prove this theory wrong. The game is a one-button puzzler from Jay Van Hutten and it's main premise is simple. All you have to do is collect the different yellow colored circles or balls inside a maze. This might seem like a no-brainer and it is, until you get to the higher levels and realize just how complicated it can get. Ichi comes with a sketch-like graphics reminiscent of Crayon Physics as well as a nice soundtrack provided by Michiel Nijhof.

Candy Train

If you were into PopCap games back then, then you must have remembered Candy Train at some point. This simple but entertaining game was a staple on the PopCap roster. In fact, it was even available as a flash game on their website. Fast forward to now and this addictive game is available as a free download for the iPhone and iPad. The game was released under PopCap's "indie label," 4th & Battery where they promised to deliver edgier and experimental games. I'm not so sure if you can call Candy Train edgy or experimental but one thing's for sure, it definitely has the charm of a PopCap title: making you want to do nothing but keep playing.

Paper Toss

Paper Toss is one of those games that most people think is just absurd, I mean, how fun can it be to toss paper inside a wastebasket? I thought that too until I tried it. You see, once you try it there's a big chance you'll find yourself hooked and playing for hours. The gameplay is as simple as its title. You basically try and toss a piece of crumpled paper towards a waste basket. To make it a bit interesting though, the game offers different difficulty settings as well as random locations with their own special quirks. Developed by Backflip Studios, Paper Toss was initially just for iOS devices but later on was made available for Android as well.

One Curious Nightfall

One Curious Nightfall is a short but very interesting game that's coupled with one awesome soundtrack. The game is beautiful and definitely worth checking out and experiencing for yourself. In the game, there are several rooms that you need to explore, with each room holding a surprise of its own. Gameplay is quite simple and the graphics is 2D but it's still pretty amazing. It's a bit short so don't expect to get too attached with the game since it might be over even before you start getting a feel for it. Give the game a try by hitting the download link on the upper left of the image.

Dead Cyborg 1: The Beginning of the Death

Dead Cyborg might seem like just another first person shooting game, but it actually has its charm. Developed by Barathe Endre, only the first episode is finished so far but it's been receiving good reviews since it first came out. This science fiction shooter game is offered at a pay-what-you-want download. All the donations are used to help fund the development of the succeeding episodes; with each episode geared at providing at least 2-3 hours worth of gameplay. The game works on a variety of systems including the top three: Linux, Windows and Mac and is certainly worth checking out.

Dizzypad

Dizzypad is a pretty cool free iPad/iPhone game that you'll surely get addicted to. The game was created by Nimblebit, the same company that developed the wildly popular Pocket Frogs. If you're familiar with Koi Pond and Doodle Jump, Dizzypad is touted as a hybrid of both. It combines the beautiful and serene atmosphere of the former with the insane, precision gameplay of the latter; giving birth to an exciting game that's plenty of fun to play. Your main objective is basically to jump from one lily pad to another without falling into the water. If you're thinking this is too simple, well, in a way it is. Nevertheless, you're in for a treat once you give it a go.
