Star Opus: Episode I “Pathway to the Pollux”

Dubbed as the "real mother of all retro games," Star Opus I takes retro shooting to a whole new level. The game induces some hardcore Asteroids style of gameplay along with some lovely, lovely tunes to go along with it. Star Opus I is essentially a one-man project. The first episode is currently released as a freeware and so will Episode II, which is currently under construction. However, it seems to be set for a commercial release later on. Let's just hope this doesn't come soon enough. For the meantime, grab this download from their website or simply hit the Download Game link. It's perfect if you just want to get away for awhile, head to space and shoot some asteroids.

Grief

Grief is like navigating through Dante's Divine Comedy minus the gore. This cool puzzle platformer sees you exploring the mind of a young girl who is seeking to find some clarity and answers. The game is an interesting take on what goes on in the mind of the young protagonist. It features 20 levels of cool puzzles that will certainly please any gamer. Grief was created by Magnesium Ninja Studios, a Richmond, BC indie game development studio. They've released countless other indie games throughout years and Grief is their most recent one. Check out the game. It won't disappoint.

General Conflict

General Conflict is the result of a project created by 8 talented students from Utrecht School of the Arts. The game is a simple yet enjoyable fast-paced shooter platform that is perfect if you have several buddies over (currently it can accommodate up to 3 players) and are clearly looking for some fun as well. This great little action platformer is still being upgraded by the team as they get a feel for the response and feedback they receive from gamers. However, that doesn't stop it from being such a fun game to try out though.

Tottenham from Theta Games

When you first see Tottenham, it might look weird but it definitely has solid gameplay and will assure any player a good time. In the game, you play a demolitions expert that has to clear the path so that subway connections can be made from point A to point B. This is the latest release from indie developer, Theta Games. They have several other games up for download on their website, some of the titles include Orange, Composition Piece, and R- Theta II. Tottenham might be the type of game people would look over because of its simple graphics, but it's actually a fun and very cool arcade game to check out.

JellyCar

A fun and quirky game, JellyCar has won its fair share of fans. Created by Walaber, the game puts you in control of a jelly car that will go through all the nooks and crannies until it sees the highly elusive stop sign. Thanks to its popularity, succeeding versions of the App has been developed including the latest one by Disney. Of course, the newer versions are available for a price so it's best if you give this free one a try first before shelling out the cash. The game combines beautiful graphics, responsive controls and very addictive gameplay to turn it into a complete winner. Try it out.

Dactyl

Dactyl is a fun and addictive game that you'll definitely enjoy. The game was developed and released by Mauvila Software. It was initially offered for $0.99 but has since been offered for free by the company. In the game, your job is to diffuse the bombs that light up, but you have to diffuse them in the same order that they light up, otherwise it's kaboom! It's essentially a fast-paced memory game where remembering is an important factor for you not to be blown to bits. So if you are up for a little challenge, have good dexterity in your fingers and a sharp memory, this game is just waiting for you to play. Grab it right now.

Dear Esther

Dear Esther is not your typical game. There's absolutely no gunfight, no puzzles to solve and no princess to rescue, but this creepy Source Mod has definitely captured the attention of more than a few gamers out there. Released back in 2008, the game features a unique take on first person gameplay. The game is a bit tough to discuss since it showcases a fragmented plot and no real, or actual gameplay happening. You simply have to follow along and see where the game takes you. If you're up for trying out the unconventional, then you might want to give this game a try. It's definitely one -of-a-kind and worth checking out.

John Cube

If puzzle games are more your thing, Johnny Cube should prove entertaining. This cool puzzler runs in the same vein as Sokoban. The game involves plenty of block pushing and puzzle solving. Even though it's quite new (released just this month by Primož Vovk, otherwise known as Blodyavenger) the game is already winning good points for its smooth gameplay. This is the second indie release for the developer, following the footsteps of the 2D game, Obelisk Blocks. It's definitely a game worth playing. The graphics are clean, gameplay is much better and smoother than Sokoban and it's certainly quite enjoyable. Give it a download by clicking the Download Game link on the upper left.
