Creaky Old Memory

Creaky Old Memory is a beautifully rendered platformer that's a bit creepy in terms of storyline but still quite interesting to play. As Tatiana, players are tasked to explore every nook and cranny of the house to help uncover the lead character's past. Solve puzzles and find ways to overcome obstacles. Collect items to help Tatiana remember her past in this artsy yet emotional puzzle game.

Lovecraft Game

For those of you who love Lovecraft, maybe the total randomness and weirdness of his ideas, then you might enjoy this Lovecraft Game. Before delving any further, let me just tell you that this game is basically unfinished. It's pretty much playable but the ending is a bit abrupt. However, like any game expected from Cactus, you get a great game with cool graphics; definitely enough to tune into this game even for a bit.

Obake

Obake is a cool platformer game that features unique and fun gameplay. It is a Japanese platformer game that has a similar gameplay to that of favorites, Mario and Kirby. It's also filled with the same charm and fun elements contained in both games. Enjoy over 50 levels as you play the titular "Obake" or basically, a ghost. Fight and possess more than 20 different enemies and have an excellent time.

Gandhi Gandhi Boom Boom

Gandhi Gandhi Boom Boom is a bit unusual in that they force you to merge the opposites. In this game, you have to work hard to make sure that Gandhi and hamburgers do not connect as much as possible. The interesting gameplay and the non-linear game concept is what's held as a standout for this game. It won praises at the 2009 Global Game Jam and was developed by Clement Linel, Eric Scott, Rosanna Lopez, and Traci Lawson.

Lyle in Cube Sector

There is something about retro looking games that make them so much fun to look at. Moreover, if they incorporate a fun and addictive gameplay with it, then you certainly have a winner. Lyle in Cube Sector fits into this category easily. It combines the fun gameplay of Super Mario 2 along with lovable characters and solid storyline. Basically, the bad guy steals your cat and you would do anything to get your precious cat back.

Escape from the Underworld

Ever wonder what it would be like if you were a heavenly being- all powerful and awesome- and you suddenly got thrown out of heaven to wallow in your misery in the underworld? Of course, you're first plan of action would be to build up your army and get revenge, right? Play Escape from the Underworld and you won't have to keep wondering anymore. This 30 minute platformer game has been getting quite the feedback in reviews. Not only does it feature a pretty cool storyline (Lucifer's biopic, is what I like to call it) but it does this with a kick-ass soundtrack and fun graphics. Created by Banov for a showdown in IndieKombat against fellow indie game developer Andrew Brophy. This is one short but amazingly cool game.

The Ur Quan Masters

If you have played Star Control 2 before and loved it too much, then you'll probably love Ur Quan Masters as well. The game is an open source clone for Star Control 2 which was a 2D style RPG with arcade style combat. Ur Quan Masters is not much different, except that it is equipped with an open source code and more updated graphics and gameplay. However, the spark of StarCon 2 is still there and playing it is definitely worth your time.

Probe L

Combine cool neon-against-black graphics, awesome techno score and a one-of-a-kind gameplay and you have Probe L. This awesome arcade puzzle game sees you moving your "probe" into the yellow energy fields. You can't make the probe move directly though, you have to use the red beacons scattered across the field to move it. This game combines a fun gameplay, your wits and a pretty funky soundtrack to complete your perfect afternoon break.

Solace

Solace might seem like another shooter game out there, and in many ways it is a basic shooter game. You just have to kill and take down the enemy so you can move on to the next level. However, instead of providing you with regular levels, it allows you to traverse in the 5 stages of grief. The game was developed by students in Digipen and has become considered as one of the top entries in PAX10. Filled with colorful graphics, it is a beautifully rendered game with a nice gameplay.
