Amber Rubarth: Free EP

Amber Rubarth's music goes well with that morning cup of coffee as you stare out the window and enjoy the quiet morning. Thanks to this mesmerizing capacity, it's no surprise that Rubarth hailed by Deli Magazine as the Best of NYC Songwriter. Her songs spark a sense of pop adventure while also exploring the quaint charm of a girl in the big city. She's released several albums so far but this is the first free compilation she's put out. It's a collection of singles taken and compiled from every album she's released.

Ben K Adams: Nonchalant

Bringing in a fusion of experimental trip hop and dance pop sounds, Nonchalant by Ben K. Adams is a nice little getaway compilation for those looking to enjoy a little time out on the dancefloor. This is the latest release from the artist and it combines his skillful guitar playing with his expert mixing skills. Nonchalant is a short EP but it's enough to entice the listeners and keep them hooked with the few tracks it has in tow.

Grenadina: Pretend For Me

Grenadina is an all-girl rock band from the Kansas city area. Although they do have reservations about always being dubbed as an "all girl group," their sound more than makes up for all those doubters. Pretend For me is a gritty record that combines the band's favorite genres. It sifts through rock, metal, punk, alternative as well as indie; fusing them with listen-to-me lyrics and performed in a look-at-me-attitude. With their unconventional sound, the group definitely commands attention and subtly demands you listen to them.

Eric and the Blues Band

Eric and the Blues Band isn't really as straight up as you would want them to be. For one, there is no one in the band named Eric and the group rarely plays straight blues. On their Facebook page, they mention that "Eric" is a fictitious persona created by Nick to "hide behind to protect himself from his mounds of tax troubles, and paternity suits. By naming the rest of the guys "The Blues Band", Nick created an environment where he can fire anyone at any time, for no reason at all, and still keep the same name!" It's cheeky story but nonetheless, doesn't interfere with the fact that the band features some seriously catchy blues pop rock in this record.

Danny Sherwood: When My Ship Comes

With his melodic baritone voice and sweet piano playing, Danny Sherwood echoes the sultry and often somber mood of Morissey. Even the EP title sounds off a bit of melancholia from The Smiths. When My Ship Comes In is a lot like an afternoon lull after the heavy rain has passed. The short album only contains 5-tracks but the depth is beautiful and often mesmerizing. Already a songwriter at a young age, Sherwood shares intimate moments of self-reflection through his carefully written lyrics and catchy melodies.

The Wall & The Window: The Years EP

Like a soft whisper, The Wall & The Window have mastered the beauty of singing quiet and hushed up lullabies. According to the band, The Years EP takes you back to a time when a recording was meant as "an actual record of a moment in time, like a photograph in motion, framed for an instant within the borders of the picture." Fully done on a 4-track cassette, it has that lofi, yet polished and spontaneous feel. Behind this great folk EP are songwriters, Adam Mormolstein and Kristen Hotschlag.

Hypatia Lake: Ouroboros

It's easy to spot which iconic rock band has inspired much of Hypatia Lake's' sound. From the magnificent dirty guitars, those shouty vocals and a dark, sinister vibe; Ouraboros channels quite a bit of Sabbath and Led Zeppelin in its tracks. Hailing from Seattle, Ouroboros is the fourth record from the crew. It's a concept album of sorts as the band has created unique tracks that revolve around the epic battles and excursion of protagonist, Rose Marie. Serving as a nice throwback to 70s rock and expansive concept records, the album flourishes and entices listeners to enter into its sonic landscape.

NazcarNation: Dynazty EP

NazcarNation isn't really a band about racing or anything like that, instead they're an electronic indie pop chillwave trio that creates pulsating and catchy tracks. Founded in 2008 by Chris Wargo and Craig Robert Smith, the band first started out back in LA. Drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Mark Balane, soon joined in and they ended up recording most of the tracks on the EP. Skillfully fusing hip hop, ambient, and electronica; theirs songs have a midtempo chill out beat that's easy on the ears.
