Manther: Manther

Is there anything better than old school beats transformed into modern day awesomeness? Yes, some of the tracks on this one great release might take you straight back to the 80s, but believe me, in some strange way Manther has done an outstanding job in bringing the funky sounds all the way to 21st century. The group composed of Erich McVey, Mitch Morris and Kevan Hanson, has created its own world "where neon is the new black, tank tops are formal wear, and flip up sunglasses are standard issue," so of course we are more than happy to have them here!

Corrigan: ’94 and Before

Corrigan is a Brighton, UK based band that delivers a host of uptempo power pop tracks in the vein of bands like Boys Like Girls and The Getup Kids. The group does its best to deliver an enjoyable pop punk album that swirls with guitars, fast drumming, whiny singing and catchy melodies. '94 and Before is a set of 11 tracks released for free over at Death to False Hope Record. This is the debut record for the band and it looks like they have a bright future ahead of them.

The Paragons Of Goodness: The Edge Of Winter

What happens when two talented individuals join forces to create a record? You get one interesting and special R&B hip hop compilation that's definitely worth your while. The Paragons of Goodness is a two man crew made up of songwriter/producer/illustrator and vocalist Greg Blackman as well as engineer/producer/musician and owner of Long Track Studios, Nathan Wacey. Together they release this 18-track compilation that's filled with a host of lovely music. From smooth R&B to soulful hip hop and rap, the record has plenty of surprises for its listeners.

Karizma: Cup Cakes & Duct Tape

Cup Cakes and Duct Tape is a 21-track (yes, that many songs included) hip hop compilation from rapper Karizma. This is the latest album from the 16-year old rapper since his debut EP, Every Other F, was released in 2011. Not much has changed since then, in fact his sound has gained more focus now and there's also a bit more variety. Karizma is Morgan Parriott, a teen who enjoys music, making people laugh, wrestling and hails from Minnesota. Despite the young age, the artist is showcasing a whole lot of talent up his sleeve. This one is for fans of Eminem, Nas and J Dilla.

Lunova Labs: [shhht_13]

Inspired by transcendentalism, Lunova Labs pays homage to the forerunners of the movement by naming each of the tracks in this EP after some of the leaders' major works. This short EP resounds in transcendentalist perception. It takes the idea of spirituality and nature and incorporates them into each cut. The result is a sonic landscape the showcases a mix of vocals and nature samples along with dreamy instrument work. Listening to [Shhht_13] is like being transported to another world where eclecticism, spirituality and oneness with nature exists.

ASA Trio: A Love Supreme, Live at Cafe Cultura

Feel like stepping away from reality, even if just for a second; shutting off your cell phone, computer and get lost in some quality jazz sounds; well than here is your chance. A Love Supreme will bring you just that, a combination of piercing guitars, lush drums, and mood-setting organs all packaged with the stunningly gorgeous compositions. The album might include only four tracks, however, as each of them is spanning anything between six to nine minutes, ASA Trio made sure to leave you with well enough sounds to enjoy.

Rachel Ries: Without a Bird

Hailing from South Dakota, classically trained singer, pianist, violinist and violist, Rachel Ries astonishes with her brand of music. Although this album is a couple of years old, it's still worth listening to. Without a Bird is Rachel's second album and composed of a folk jazzy sound with beautiful lyrics. It first came out back in 2007 under Rachel's own So Dak Records. Her first album, For You Only, was initially released back in 2005 and was completely recorded in a vintage analog system. This second album was also done in analog, thus exuding a beautiful vintage feel. It's the type of songs you'll want to play at home on a laid back evening, relaxing and just taking in the moment.
