Mental Killing Spree “Vae Victis” – free death-metal album under Creative Commons

I’ve got to tell you - that thing ain’t no blues. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ve got an impression that death metal bands avoid Creative Commons and focus more on the good old underground zine-net and gigs ways of promoting their music... Two thumbs up for Mental Killing Spree for bravery and offering their first album as a free download and under CC! About the music. There is a quite engaging mixture of a harder side of thrash and a lighter side of death metal here. Riffs aren’t extremely melodic - it’s not Metallica, and no Amon Amarth either - but they’re melodic enough to keep a listener interested.

Erica Shine “I Will Wait For You” – captivating vocals and beautiful sound in one free pop album

Compelling, captivating, and very beautiful; these are just three words to describe Erica Shine’s “I Will Wait for You.” Released just this September 2009, the album makes listeners thirst for more of this new comer. “I Will Wait for You” has 4 heartfelt songs, all written and composed by her. Being a fan of several famous rock groups such as Evanescence and Linkin Park, Erica brings listeners to the next level with her confidence in blending rock, pop, and acoustic. This album not only reflects her love for the said genres, but also her deep feeling of sharing her emotions to her listeners.

Then let M.W.D's Singing Forest be your companion as you listen to its electronic flavor mixed with nujazz and a tast of broken tempos. Slim “Interstate Medicine” – pop/altrock album with great vocals & captivating lyrics

There are times that you just want to listen to some kind of noisy music, but not exactly loud; something that would lift up your mood, but not exactly to dance; something that lets you pump up some blood through your veins but not exactly to make you filled with adrenaline. Filled with 12 tracks that will sure to keep your head bobbing, Interstate Medicine will let you relate to its song's lyrics by the band leader's Michael Baker. Let his voice be stuck in your head! We couldn't exactly put how they sound into words, but here's what Michael wrote: I crank my amps louder than Tom Petty, but not as loud as Cannibal Corpse. I'm wordier than Jane's Addiction, but not as yappy as e.e. cummings. I'm taller than Prince, but not as tall as Krist Novoseli.

Kupek “Tries Again” – great alternative songs to chill out to

Not all songs are meant to be heard while you chill out. Others might be too noisy, and others might make you too sleepy. But Kupek does it differently - they make it just right. For those who like the sounds of John Mayer and Jason Mraz, then Kupek is a great alternative. Think of him as an open-source (read: free) alternative to alternative, relaxed rock styles out there in the market.

Maya de Luna “Bar Stim.Art” – Cool Live Jazz with Bossa hints

One of the things that I love to do is to laze around one afternoon while reading a book and listening to good jazz music. While most jazz music features instrumental piano, drums and saxophone hints, Maya de Luna and Bruno Stimart paired up for this absolutely lovely live recording of jazz with hints of bossa nova. It makes you feel like swaying left and right as you listen to the music, with applauses and little dialogues in between songs.

Macon Greyson “This Machine Kills Hypocrisy” EP

“The maturation process is always ongoing, but we as a band have finally grown up. We are not worried about where we fit anymore. We are what we are,” says Macon Greyson. Further affirming their identity as a band is the newest EP called "This Machine Kills Hypocrisy". The four-track album is a perfect mix of gritty rock and melodic country with no inhibitions and most importantly, no confusion. After nine years since its birth in a small bar in Dallas called Adair's, Macon Greyson has finally found the right balance between a 70's rock sound and a dollop of country dirt - true as ever to their Southern roots.
