Drunk Souls is a totally independent Reggae/Rock/Funk band from France. Their songs, written both in English and French, are sometimes fun & playful, sometimes dark & sad, but always very insightful and strong. I think it is the ever-present bass that makes them so powerful, but check them out for yourself.
This is an oldy-but-goodie. Cube was first released in singleplayer mode in January 2002 and had multiple updates all the way up to 2005. The game and its engine (which also called Cube) were developed by Wouter van Oortmerssen, a Dutch computer programmer. The game was always very well reviewed and it even received an award for "Best Free 3D Action Game" in 2003. It runs on almost all operating systems, it features both singleplayer and multiplayer gameplaya and even has a build-in level editor.
Anders Ilar is a Swedish electronic musician and producer. He started his relationship with music as a child, playing the piano at age six. He discovered electronic music as a teenager and spent countless hours playing with synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines. Since he was never 100% happy with his compositions he stopped recording in late 90s, but quickly returned after discovering computer software as a way of producing music. If that wouldn't be enough, he has also included unmixed audio files of all the songs so CC supporters could easily remix his compositions. All song files were 320kbps MP3s and all unmixed audio tracks were 256 VBR MP3s. Now the whole compilation is available for a free downloads on legaltorrents.com.

Duels is a British indie rock band from Leeds. They formally started playing together in 2005, but became quite popular quite recently after The Guardian described them as "one of Britains most ambitious groups". The group released their first album in July 2006. "The Bright Lights And What I Should Have Learned" was very highly reviewed and named Album of the Week in The Sunday Times. "The Barbarians Move In" is the bands second album. Released February 14th 2008, Duels is giving it out free as a digital download on the albums first anniversary.
Electric Sheep is a free & open source screensaver created by Scott Draves. It is by far the most beautiful and captivating screensaver I've ever came across. It not only generates amazing images, but it does it "on the fly". When the computer "falls asleep" it starts communicating and collaborating with thousands of computers around the world morphing computer animations known as "sheep". The result of this constant transformation is what some call a collective "android dream", an reference to Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".
I first had the chance to listen to this album last year and it went straight to my iPod because of Black ELement's innate energetic talent to rap and to make really good hip hop. It truly stands out from the hundreds of wanna-be-rappers we've had to listen to in order to make our FrostWire featured picks every month.
