Derek Clegg – It Seems As Though

Derek Clegg is no stranger here in Frostclick. Three of his previous releases, namely the cathartic, KJC; the mesmerizing Here Comes Your Fate, Quick Duck and the enthralling, Beautiful World; have been featured here in our blog. This time, Clegg is back and he's got another album in tow. Similar to his previous releases, It Seems As Though, flutters between indie folk, pop, acoustic country and even a hint of electronica. It's a beautiful mix of songs that reflect the artists' signature style and taste. It's hard to pigeonhole Clegg as an artist that's strictly limited to creating indie folk because he manages to add enough little touches to create a unique sound. Each song from the album resonate with a beautiful, heartfelt emotion that listeners will certainly enjoy.

Pretty Little Empire: Stack Session at KWUR

Pretty Little Empire is a four piece Missouri band formed back in 2008. The group has released several records under their belt, including the 2009 debut, Sweet Sweet Hands. Their 2010 release, Reasons & Rooms was hailed as one of the top 10 best local albums by The Riverfront Times. This 5 track compilation showcases PLE's brand of melancholic alternative indie rock with touches of folk and pop here and there. The crew performed every single track live at KWUR. This showcases their latest single as well as a couple of songs from their previous album. A great compilation worth checking out. Perfect for moments where you feel like reflecting.

The Iconoclasts

Like most of Konjak's games, The Iconoclasts, is a short, incomplete platformer that packs enough punch to keep players interested. It seems the developer has been struggling with finishing most of his projects ever since before. Nevertheless, he still manages to create interesting and very entertaining pieces that's enough to make any fanboy/fangirl want more from him. Konjak or Joakim Sandberg is also the brainchild of the much praised indie favorite, Ivory Springs. He creates and works on almost all of the parts of the game, including rendering, soundtrack and programming.  The Iconoclasts is the latest release from the developer and promises to be as exciting as his previous projects.

Tap Defense

Tap Defense pits you against monsters from the underworld who are trying to break down different barriers just to get to heaven. Offered absolutely free in the App Store, the game is considered one of the best tower defense strategy games available for free. It was created by TapJoy and since it's release it has become of the biggest, most downloaded free apps in the iTunes library. Of course, it's not just because it's offered for free that makes it great but it's actually a very addictive and entertaining strategy game. Combining strategy and good old fun, you'll certainly enjoy this one. Why not go ahead and check it out?

Joey Ripps – Son of 1,000 Pardons

As part of a Just Plain Soundcrew (highly talented progressive hip-hop group with a netlabel of the same name, and which blockSonic calls the most prolific and talented hip-hop squad in the US) Joey Ripps, hails from Richmond, Virginia and comes to us with one of his great new releases, Son of 1,000 Pardons. In a way I am more than grateful that I went across this album, not only because it led me to discover other amazing artists but because it brings with it some quality made, amazing sounds that I can listen to for hours at the time.

Doodle Hangman

Hangman is already an addictive enough game on its own, but with this highly stylized, animated version; you'll definitely want to keep playing over and over again. Released by EnsenaSoft, Doodle Hangman is an amazing new game worth trying. The game offers tons of features including a two player option. You can easily play with your mate and provide your own words while playing. The animation is excellent and definitely adds to the fun of playing this cool word puzzle. Give the game a download. It's perfect for the iPad, iPhone as well as iTouch.

Born From A Shore’s Friends

Born From a Shore's five track EP, Friends, is a luscious indie folk pop compilation filled with twinkling background sounds and cool vocals. Although it's hard to find information about this group, (I think they're French) their EP is still worth listening to. Friends comes with 5 catchy tracks that incorporates a cool pop, sometimes laid-back jazzy kind of vibe. The vocal harmonies are excellent and the quality of the recording is quite good as well. It's very clear and crisp; very professional. Go ahead and take a listen to this wonderful EP. It'll take you to a dreamy landscape filled with wonderful strings, awesome melodies and sweet vocals.
