To Disappear: Into E.P.

A rough, melodic, indie alternative rock album; this Intro E.P. by To Disappear certainly makes a statement. The band resonates with a Joy Division/ The Cure vibe that transports you back in time. Hailing from Canada, the group is composed of Ben Sharples, Xavier Martinez Galiana, Jeremy Royal, and Scott Barrow. All of the members shared a common love for 90s alternative rock and Morrissey-esque, melancholic pop and from there the band was born. Intro E.P. was recorded at a home studio and is the first official demo for the band. It's a beautiful mix of haunting vocals, shoegaze rock and pop melancholia.

Subsonic

Subsonic takes the whole idea of stealth games a bit further. Normally, when you play games like this, there's usually some device that you use to keep your noise level down. Whether it's as simple as footpads or some hi-tech gadget that cushions your footsteps, hardly anybody in the game world has ever thought of actually creating a gadget that sees soundwaves. Well, until now, that is. In Subsonic, you play an agent for a group of merceneries who specializes in sound technology. Equipped with your sound-vision goggles, your task is to finish the objective for any particular level and get out alive.

Sostanze Records seem to always deliver when it comes to great electro and techno music, and this time is certainly no different. StartYourOwnRebellion: LP3020

After years of oppression from Cozack Corporation, Start Your Own Rebellion (SYOR) has made it their business to warn us about the state of humanity in the future. Tired of having their freedom and self-expression quenched, the group are taking matters into their own hands. This might seem a bit cheesy and immediately classed by some people as a bad Gorillaz imitation, but virtual band, SYOR more than delivers. LP3020 is a powerful record incorporating elements of hip hop, alternative and electronica in one solid mixtape. Signed under J. Cole's label, Dreamville Records, SYOR are winning raves left and right for their massive effort. Join their rebellion by taking a listen.

Tiny Fireflies

This tiny release from October of last year might include only three tracks but since all of them got an instant pass to my lovely iTunes library I thought that they just might find their way into yours. In reality Tiny Fireflies are Lisle from the band Fireflies and Kristine from Tiny Microphone. However, together as a duo they call themselves Tiny Fireflies. Their music is a wonderful combination of melancholic, sensitive pop sounds and dreamlike vocals that are sure to catch your attention. Making waves and gaining new amazing fans wherever they go, the duo have already performed some of their new creations at NYC Popfest in May and are on their way to perform in Chicago alongside the Ladybug Transistor.

Tracks to Sync – June 2011 (mp3 mix)

Tracks to Sync, June 2011 (MP3 Mix) is a pretty cool monthly compilation from Free Music Archive. This time around, the mix was inspired and made especially with the FMA online producer in mind. The songs focus on instrumental ambient tracks from new and up-and-coming artists in the indie online music world. There have been several "Tracks to Sync" mixes released on the site as well. Some of the previous ones include two versions of Ten Tracks to Sync, one featuring selections at FMA prior to 2011 and ones that were gathered right at the onset of the year. There's also a special compilation aimed for YouTubers to choose from and use in their videos.

Youdunnit

If you hate figuring out games, then stay clear from Youdunnit. This is perhaps one of the most confusing indie games out there. However, if you are up for a little challenge and don't mind taking a Tylenol or two, this game would be right up your alley. The game was created under 48 hours so don't expect it to be perfect. In fact, it's this confusing gameplay and headache inducing storyline that makes the game quite intriguing. It was created as an entry for the Global Jam Games and since then has gained notoriety among indie gamers as a weird yet must-try murder "mystery" game.
