Eastern Phoebes: Gypsy Paw

If you love sweet indie pop and want songs that will make you feel all bright and cheery throughout the day, then Gypsy Paw is a must-listen compilation. Eastern Phoebes is the brainchild of couple Ry Smith and Meg Bayley. This cute couple creates music out of their living room; turning simple guitar chords and lovely harmonies into wonderful sounds. Gypsy Paw is the second digital release from the duo. Their first being, Rods of Energy; a short EP that features 7 tracks of pure twee folk pop. Much like their previous compilation, this second EP is made from the same sweet and catchy indie pop pot and will make you want to prance around happily in your living room.

System Ninja

Having a slow computer can be pretty annoying. This is especially true if you work fast and wish your programs would open at one click of a mouse. If you suspect that there's simply too much junk that's causing your system to move like molasses, then try out System Ninja. This nifty tool is designed to do a thorough sweep of your system; getting rid of all the unwanted junk you've accumulated from visiting and downloading various things onto your computer. Of course, it's features don't stop there, you can expect so much more from this little program apart from a simple cleanup.

Dominique: The First

If you need some relaxing music for one of those lazy days, you'll enjoy having Dominique in your player. This mini-EP might be a bit short but it showcases enough to show you the artists' jazzy style and gorgeous talent. Despite being fairly new and young, Dominique has managed to release several singles and compilations in this year alone. On her BandCamp page, she's released two EPs and one single. She has The First and Stay Informed as well as the single, The Shadows.

Special Quartet: Namouche

Special Quartet is a powerful contemporary jazz group with a solid sense of tradition. Armed with the piercing sounds of Narciso González's sax, Javier Alcántara's guitar, Pablo Romero's superb piano, and Pepin Muñoz's drums, the quartet have released their debut album Namouche as their answer to the long time search for their own unique voice in jazz. Although the album was recorded all the way back in December of 2007 non of it's quality was lost over time. So here it is, another treat for all the jazz lovers out there.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia might not be the next big horror game to watch out for, but it's certainly worth looking into. The game is offered as as free download and initially came out last year. In the game, you play as Shaun Randall, a retired military servicemen who ends up leading a boring, albeit slightly normal life; that is, until you are euthanised and killed. Then you start seeing the weird and the creepy, leaving you with a confusing but all too real dream. The latest version works great but you have to manually replace certain patches in order to make it fully playable. Despite the slight trouble of manually doing this, the game is certainly a must-try.

Cocolixe: Futuro EP

Cocolixe from Barcelona (Spain) knows how to melt American soul, 60's French pop and old Italian ballads into a minimal electro mini-pop mixture. This is a refreshing cool summer breeze for the lounge at the Mediterranean Sea. He's a composer and electronic alchemist, a restless investigator of the latest trends, and he knows how to delight the audience with his particular melting pot of techniques and styles. His first album brings us stuttering beats, looped voices and a wild mix of styles.

Andy Berkhout: Songs On Tape 2009

St. Louis songwriter, Andy Berkhout, might be best known as the dude who promised to release one free downloadable track for every week of 2010. This might have seemed like a completely ambitious project but so far, the singer has managed to keep his word. On top of this weekly song project, the artist has also delivered several full length records and EPs under his name. This includes this free indie folk chillout affair, Songs on Tape (2009), among others. His other records, particularly Be Silent (2010) and Wake Up For the Day (2009) are also available for sale on iTunes. Hit the download link and get the download from BandCamp. You can enter zero on the amount, but it won't hurt if you enter a donation as well. This guy definitely deserves it.

Paul Romer: The world’s first charter city?

Back in 2009, Paul Romer unveiled the idea for a "charter city". This year, at TED2011, he tells the story of how such a city might just happen in Honduras ... with a little help from his TEDTalk. A charter city is a place where you start with uninhabited land, a charter that specifies the rules that will apply there and then a chance for people to opt in, to go live under those rules or not. - Paul Romer
