Karma Tree: Sleepium

Karma Tree mostly sounds like a Swedish version of Vampire Weekend. Although occasionally they venture out and mix alternative and sugar pop, it's hard to deny that the boys have a knack for the indie sound. Sleepium is the full length debut for the trio. It was recorded late 2009 and released the following year. Much of the songs on here showcase the band's penchant of mixing everything up, they can easily go from pop with bright twinkly guitars, to heavy metal sounding riffs and even boyband sounding beats.

Speed Car

It seems it is raining with casual fun games on the Android Market, and Speed Car is just one of the fine examples. The game sports very simple controls, simple objective and graphics. And although it brings nothing out of the ordinary to the table, its smooth and quite addicting gameplay certainly turns it into a well worth download. Created by OoO Studio, this developer has quite a few decent game titles under-their-belt, but Speed Car just blows away those titles when the download numbers are compared. Surely, Speed Car is a game that should adorn the App drawer on your Android device.

Ghastly Menace: Pitcairn

Although indie bands are abundant these days, occasionally you'll find a group that deserves all the hype they're getting. Ghastly Menace is one of these groups. Composed of Andrew Schroeder and Christopher Geick (formerly of They Found Me, They Named Me;) the duo set their sights in creating a wonderfully melodic and entertainingly sweet indie pop band. Pitcairn is their first EP. It contains 5 songs that clock in at less than 3 minutes each but filled with some gorgeous and catchy beats that makes you want to leave it on loop for a long time.

Gifture

Photo editors are available by the dozens on the iOS platform, but a very few of them create a niche for themselves and leave a smile on users face. Well, Gifture is just the app that lives by this statement to the fullest and does the job in the best possible way, especially when it comes to easily creating beautifully animated photos. Created by Toaast a developer that has been quite loyal to the App Store; Gifture is an app that does make a mark for itself and lives up to a few expectations of the user to say the least about its productivity.

Figure Father

What’s more beautiful to watch than real life captured on film? In Figure Father, director Andrew Michael Ellis (of the documentray collective Nomadique) showcase the life of 49-year old Pedro Sodo, an ex-convict who desires to get a job and be a father to his 21-year old son Tony. The film’s original goal was to shoot something that will reflect on the issue of job crisis. But Pedro’s story opened a wider narrative. The parallelism of his life to that of his son presents a genuine and extraordinary testimonial on how society hinders people like Pedro to have their own second chances.

DFRNT: Actaeon EP

Continuing on with their bevy of strong releases, Cut Music debuts their tenth compilation album. This time it's from Scottish producer DFRNT. Known for his minimalistic style, the artist has created a record that includes 3 originals and 2 remixes. Actaeon EP comes with a collection of 5 tracks that resonate with cryptic drum and bass that ebbs and flows beautifully. Coupled with the occasional vocal sample and ethnic instrumentation, the record is a moody compilation that crosses boundaries.
