Pizza Verdi

Experience a tense game of cat and mouse in Pizza Verdi, a 7-minuter film written and directed by Gary Nadeau. The film had already received much much attention and award from festival circuits including the Salento Fibus Terrae International Film Festival, Athens International Film and Video Festival, and BiosAgenda Online Film Competition. The film opens to a seemingly normal pizza delivery when the main character hears an angelic voice coming from the posh apartment. Upon discovering where the moving voice is coming from, a twist of power play opens up where the audience's first speculation about the characters' are dramtically changed.

Blinky

It's adorable. It's safe. And it just wants to be your friend. Blinky will definitely paint your dreams in bloody red. Written, directed, and edited by Ruairi Robinson and funded by the Irish Film Board, this 12-minuter suspense film tells the story of a young boy who purchases a robot helper to be his playmate. But just like any child, the boy gets bored with Blinky and puts all of his frustrations and childhood pangs on the poor robot. As Blinky's system reboots, things turn out viciously bad.

The Killing Joke

Blow your socks off with the suspense fiction The Killing Joke. Directed by Sebastian Lopez, this 15-minute film centers around a mysterious woman who discovers a red balloon in an almost-deserted street, and by a twist of fate finds herself facing her biggest fear. It stars Gustavo Marzo and Clarissa Staracci. The movie pays homage to the seventies horror era by using classic elements of suspense. I liked how the transitions of sequences are flawless; you could really see that the team behind this worked extra hard. Every detail was not missed, from the empty bullets, the pulling trigger to the grand ending.

Ataque de Pánico! (Panic Attack!) [2009]

It's amazing what you can do with $300, cool web and computer programs, and love for giant robots. Ataque de Panico! (Panic Attack!) is one potential result if you had all of the above, plus lots of talent. This short film is absolutely awesome, to say the least. Visually, it is arresting. Making even Optimus Prime a bit jealous for not getting this treatment. For a super short film, it packs in a lot of action; blown up buildings, people running around screaming, rockets launching, oh, and did I mention giant robots?

The Wintress

The Winstress is a 26-minute suspense-psychological thriller about an abused wife, Liz (Stephanie Johnson), who recently discovers that she can stand up for herself, and she is strong enough to face her fears, the worst of which is her violent husband, Sam (Heath). The film's writer and director, Bill Everman, also stars in the film as Mike, a longtime friend of Heath. It seems Mike is very close to the couple, and so it is easy to see why he decides to drop by at their place when Heath didn't show up at work one day. As tight as their bond may be, Mike, Liz and Heath are only about to discover the true depth of their friendship.
