TAGAP 2 (The Apocalyptic Game about Penguins) is the sequel to the original TAGAP game. Developed by the Penguin Development Team, it offers more action and adventure. This 2D platformer and shoot em up sees the team up of Pedro and Pablo, the cyber-penguins. Together they battle the zombie penguin army of the dastardly General Primo.

Brutal Chase

Brutal Chase, published by Mutant Bear Games, is an exciting smash ‘em up racer for Windows Phone 7. The premise is basic: you’re a cop and you have to get behind the wheels of a police car. Your goal is to ram your patrol car against the criminal’s vehicle until they can’t drive anymore. That’s right; no pulling over or reading of rights; just bash them into submission.

Nitronic Rush

Nitronic Rush sets a new standard when it comes to survival car racing games. In the game, your vehicle is configured as an anti-virus program. You race through nine stunning tracks, cleaning up unstable Nitronic City. This means you have to drive through obstacles, jumping side boots, do barrel rolls and other maneuvers. On certain occasions your car gets wings to fly around. The graphics are inspired by the 1082 movie Tron, but the developers have added their own touch. In terms of quality, the graphics are comparable to other pricey racing games. Players can upload “Ghosts” and compare time and scores against each other. The techno soundtrack blends in perfectly with the frenetic pace.

Go Karting

In the mood for a short and simple game? Well, this is the perfect offering for your gaming needs. Go Karting burns the iOS screen and keeps itself restricted to the casual gamer. There is no engine or eye-popping graphics, pure gaming fun is what you should expect and will get. Created by Funmiller, the developer might not have the best ratings in the scene, but it nonetheless cooks up a decent offering at the end of the day. Unlike other developers, this one does not promise tons of gimmicks, instead it sticks to the point and offers something brief and unique that you will enjoy.

Speed Dreams

Speed Dreams is the former Torcs-NG, but with a host of improvements. There are lots of cars, better graphics and realistic physics engines. It’s a racer all right, but precision driving will be necessary. It is cross-platform and you can play it in Windows, Linux and Haiku. There’s a lot of everything here. Racing modes include Career, the Championship, single events, endurance, quick race and practice. Dozens of cars are available and grouped into the following categories: World Rally Series, Monoposto 5, Long Day Series GT1 and 2, Supercars (sports cars), TORCS Racing Board 1 and 1936 Grand Prix. TORCS Racing Board 1 cars are redesigned models from the original TORCS. The 1936 Grand Prix are pre-World War II racing cars.

Created by CWA Games, the developer behind some other great apps for Android, the more recent Assaulter certainly raised the bar for all the action games that will follow.

Pinball Deluxe is based upon the traditional game, but with twists. This Android arcade game comes with five tables. Each one has distinct features and can be considered a complete game. They are Brix, Carnival, Diving for Treasure, Space Explorer and Wild West. Controls for the game are simple. Touch and hold any part of the screen to propel the ball. Touching the left and right side of your smartphone will control the left and right flippers. Shake your phone if you want to give the table a shake. AssaultCube

AssaultCube is a free first person shooter multiplayer game. Produced by Rapid Viper Productions, it is based on the CUBE engine. Anyone who has ever played Quake or Counterstrike will feel right at home here. The game takes place in realistic settings, but the action remains fast and furious. The game has single player and multiplayer modes, but clearly multiplayer is its strong suit. In single player mode you get to play in 26 maps against the computer. There are various difficulty settings to choose from. Playing in single player is a good way to hone your skills and get familiar with the maps.
