In addition, Alfred also lets you do quick Web searching too.

Calligra Suite

Calligra Suite is a free open source alternative to commercial office applications. Created by KDE, the suite includes a word processor (Words), a spreadsheet (Sheets), presentation software (Stage), raster graphics editor (Krita), and a vector graphics editor (Karbon). The suite also has a database application (Kexi), and a diagramming tool (Flow).

iSpending is an app for the iOS that allows you to keep track of your expenses right on your mobile. Developed by Hana Mobile, the app is intuitive and very easy to use. Upon launch you will see reports for your annual, monthly, weekly and daily expenses.

Click.to app reduces the number of clicks you make when pasting something. You can ctr-C something, and then the app appears. The locations and options become available. Suppose you’re reading and want to find the meaning of a word. What you do is hit ctr-C and head to Wikipedia. Another example is the following. You can use the app to post a quote from an e-book in your Twitter account. After marking the quote, press ctr-C and select the Twitter icon. GoldenDict is a free dictionary lookup program, but it does more than just show you the meaning of words. It is a feature rich program with links, images, colors and formatting. In addition it has support for other file formats like Babylon .BGL ABBYY Lingvo .dsl source files, ABBYY Lingvo .lsa/.dat audio archives and many more that you can use. With GoldenDict you can install dozens of dictionaries easily.

Scan Pages, to put it simply, adds a scanning element to your iPhone. Developed by Ricoh Innovations Inc, the app allows you to scan product labels, signs, magazines, forms, documents and more. There are a few apps like it on iTunes, but this one stands out because of its sophisticated image processing technology. Scanning is a breeze. Use your phone’s camera to take a snapshot of the document. Move the yellow dots to adjust the borders. This yellow rectangle can be used to fix distorted photos. The app is best used with documents on a white background with black text.

Buddi

Personal finance programs today have a lot of features, but they can be quite expensive. Buddi is an open source and easy to use personal finance software. Developed by Wyatt Olson, there are versions for Windows, the Mac and Linux. Note that it only runs on Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Buddi provides enough budgeting and finance functions without complicated menus and options. The tabbed interface is intuitive. You can make new accounts for savings, investments, checking and cash. You can also add a prepaid account, loan, line of credit liability and credit card.
