FAAST: Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit

Geeks, gamers and everyone in between have been buzzing about the new "hacked" Kinect being used to play the lord of all RPGs, World of Warcraft. Scratching your head? Up until recently, we were too. Developed by a team from USC Institute for Creative Technologies, FAAST takes Kinect and allows users to play Warcraft using hand and body gestures. You can lean forward to make Garrosh, Thrall and company run; swipe your left hand in the air to move the camera or raise your hands to fire on a target. This Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit is revolutionizing the gaming world as we speak. Developers aren't stopping there. The team hopes to squeeze more from this free Kinect "middleware." One thing's for sure, it's about time there's technology that will get WoW players off their asses.

Spelunky

Derek Yu does it again. Spelunky is a probably one of the rare indie games that deserve to be sold commercially rather then played for free. It's a fun, adventure game where you play well, a spelunker; exploring caves and looking for loot. Spelunky is a game that's fit for hardcore gamers and those who can catch up to the humor in Derek Yu's games. It's definitely a game worth getting yourself lost in.

Gravity Bone

Gravity Bone is a short game that features a tale of espionage, fun and gorgeous graphics and gameplay that clocks in at, more or less, 20 minutes. However, despite this short game time, the game provides great depth in characters and actually works great in sucking you into its own world. Follow and complete all the mission objectives as a secret agent and complete all stages of the game, yes, all two levels of it.

iDump

Have you ever wanted to back-up the contents of an iPod and transfer them onto a computer or external hard-drive? Maybe you manage your music manually and do not have all of your contents stored neatly into one folder on a PC? Or maybe your computer has crashed and you no longer have your iPods music or videos stored on it?. iDump is an iPod copying tool and it solves both of these issues. Through this program, a user can individually check the songs in which he or she wants to back-up or they can simply select everything as a mass and back-up every song contained within an iPod. Either way, once the required contents are ticked, all one has to do is click ‘Start Copy’.

Boxycraft

With Boxycraft, you get a chance to use this little character and maneuver him around. Make him run around, jump and overcome the many different obstacles that come his way. This game has over 10 single player levels and up to 2 players can enjoy and have fun. If you like physics based games and love a great puzzle or two, then this game will fit right on your list.

Creaky Old Memory

Creaky Old Memory is a beautifully rendered platformer that's a bit creepy in terms of storyline but still quite interesting to play. As Tatiana, players are tasked to explore every nook and cranny of the house to help uncover the lead character's past. Solve puzzles and find ways to overcome obstacles. Collect items to help Tatiana remember her past in this artsy yet emotional puzzle game.

Eversion

Bright turquoise background? Check. Purple blocks? Check. Cute little characters? Check. Meet Eversion, even though it looks like another cutesy platformer game, try playing it and you might be in for a surprise. The game looks deceptively simple thanks to its bright, cheery graphics, but it is pretty difficult to beat and will pretty much mess with your brain. So, if you are in hard core game mode and miss the challenges of a Nintendo game. Eversion is the game to try out.

Shrook

Need your daily dose of news? Then you need a reliable rss reader like Shrook to help you out. This program is not just easy to use but it also contains plenty of interesting features that you will not find anywhere else in other readers built for Mac. If you have been having trouble looking for the right news reader, then this is one program that needs to be in your computer.

Lovecraft Game

For those of you who love Lovecraft, maybe the total randomness and weirdness of his ideas, then you might enjoy this Lovecraft Game. Before delving any further, let me just tell you that this game is basically unfinished. It's pretty much playable but the ending is a bit abrupt. However, like any game expected from Cactus, you get a great game with cool graphics; definitely enough to tune into this game even for a bit.
