Tango Free Video Calls does exactly what it says: offer video calls and international text at no cost. This app from TangoMe works with tablets, smartphones and PCs. You can make voice calls between PCs, iOS and Android at no cost. The mobile app edition basically has the same features for the three phones. You get an account and there’s no need to set up a password. You can invite your buddies and call them, send text and email. If you are using the voice call feature, you can switch to video on the fly.

Seamless3D is 3D modeling and animation software. Just like other 3D programs, it takes time to get familiar with the interface. Unlike turn based strategy games, the events take place in real time. You don’t have to wait your turn, but then neither do your enemies. This will keep players on their toes. The game is challenging but not frustrating. The key to success is creating an army to attack your foes. At the same time, your army must be able to defend your plants needed to power the economy.

0.A.D.

When it comes to free real time strategy games, 0AD by Wildfire Games is one of those that stand out. Although under heavy development, the game is already very playable. Like other RTS games, you have to manage resources, build an army and manage an economy. There are six civilizations: the Carthaginians, Romans, Celts, Hellenes, Persians and Iberians. Each one has strengths and weaknesses. When you play the game, the resources are displayed at the screen bottom. The mini-map is at the left. To select all units nearby, double click. You can assign units to perform tasks like building structures. Of course you can order them to attack the enemy.

MusicBee

MusicBee is a music management application. It comes with all the basic features you need to arrange your audio collection. It also throws in a lot of useful extra features without compromising its ease of use. If your audio files are in the thousands, this organizer is worth a look. The main advantage of MusicBee is the simple interface. Your tracks are situated in the middle of the screen. The left panel has a list of folders, reminiscent of other media players. One of the best features of the program is it can locate information about albums.

Libre Office

LibreOffice published by the Document Foundation is a complete free office suite. It may not be as popular as other high priced office suites, but in terms of features it can compete very well. The best part is that it is completely free. When you start the program, a menu will appear. This allows you to select what program to use. The choices are Writer, Math, Impress, Draw, Base and Calc. Impress is a presentation program while Base is used for database integration.

The Spirit Engine 2

Do you feel it's about time for some old-school 2D action? Yes, me too. So here it is, an indie RPG that provides an exciting gameplay with very decent graphics. Spirit Engine 2 is the sequel to the original Spirit Engine released in November of 2003. The sequel, however, features a whole new world, new characters, revamped graphics, and an all new game engine. Players who played the orignal version will certainly experience an overall better gameplay. The Spirit Engine 2 was developed by Natomics Studio under Mark Play, who also drew, wrote and programmed the entire game; depicting a fantasy world with evil nemesis and various hurdles that come in the way of the main characters.

LibreCAD is an open source 2D CAD application for Windows, Mac and Linux. The app is great for industrial designers, but anyone who wants to learn how to make 2D CAD drawings will like this program. For a free software, LibreCAD gives you a lot of tools to work with. New users will be able to create basic drawings, while advanced users can make engineering plans with the software. Layers can be added, ideal for complex drawings. The provided tools are sufficient for producing high precision drawings. You can start drawings from scratch. But it is also easy to put in splines, ellipses, arcs, lines and circles. A single item can have several iterations. For instance, you have 4 modes for a rectangle parameter.
