Most people associate hip-hop with blings, cars and girls. But FOE makes it different - he brings real hip-hop with a mix of R&B and rock his listeners. With the help of his long-time friend and now music producer 800 the Jewell, King of the Mountain was produced as FOE's first solo release, with the goal of making Jewell Tyme Music a household name.
K. Sparks is a New York based rap artist, music producer and lyricist all in one. He has been on our radar for a while now. Back in January 2009 we've promoted his album "Definition" on FrostWire. In just a few days, he received over 25,000 download and got a great response from hip-hop fans. Today K. Sparks released his newest project with Angelous entitled "Queens vs. Brooklyn" and once again he is giving it away as a free download licensed under Creative Commons.
Finding the perfect chemistry between producer and MC is a very rare if not magical occurrence. With the single driven, mixtape economy of hip hop, finding this connection for an entire album seems virtually impossible. One duo however, has not only managed to find that chemistry and share the same vision, they have also managed to create a conceptual piece of work that flows seamlessly from start to finish without skipping a beat.
The FranzDiego EP is a solo debut album from Franz Diego - a Minnesota rap artist and member ILLUMINOUS 3 band. I don't really remember how I came across this EP, but I remember that I fell for the smart, sincere lyrics and tracks full of rhythm and base. A fellow Minnesota MC, Kyle "Guante" Myhre, wrote about him: "an indie rapper with personality, he weaves through each track spitting lines that are at once insightful, honest, funny and original. And his flow is smooth and conversational yet technically precise; it’s a joy to listen to."
I first had the chance to listen to this album last year and it went straight to my iPod because of Black ELement's innate energetic talent to rap and to make really good hip hop. It truly stands out from the hundreds of wanna-be-rappers we've had to listen to in order to make our FrostWire featured picks every month.
