Joe Andrew: Best Friend

If you want some soothing folk pop to massage your tired and aching nerves, then Best Friend by Joe Andrew is the ideal record to put on. A member of indie folk pop outfit, Ceiling Stars; Best Friend is the first solo compilation from the singer/songwriter. Even though he's gone solo for this, Joe Andrew still brings his resident lush folkpop with him, creating songs that are both melodic and relaxing. The album is filled with 12 easy-to love-tracks and was released back in September 2011.

Before Carsie Blanton‘s Buoy and Idiot Heart, let’s backtrack to the singer/songwriter’s first musical effort entitled Ain’t So Green. Based in New Orleans, Carsie has made a name for herself touring with Shawn Colvin, Joan Osborne, The Weepies, and Loudon Wainwright III, among others.

And the Giraffe: Something for Someone

Here is yet another outstanding album from Nick Roberts and Josh Morris better known as And the Giraffe. With a Sold Out CD Package, the duo�s latest offering Something for Someone features six tracks that puts dream folk music on a pedestal. Hailing from Gainesville, Florida, the band started when the best friends/musical duo met during an orientation meeting for the University in Gainesville and decided to jam together. After a few local shows, Josh moved to Nashville and collaborated with Nick via dropbox. When Josh returned during the summer of 2011, the two were already determined to record their first EP. Currently, they are planning a tour within the year.

Awarded as the Best Indie Band at the 2012 MK Music Awards, Shorstraw is a five-piece Johannesburg-based band composed of Alistair (lead vocals/guitar), Oliver (drums, backing vocals), Russell (bass guitar), Tom (lead guitar), and Gad (keys, backing vocals).

High Pop: Hip Hip Hooray

If your'e in the mood for some hazy, garage rock and saccharine pop, then High Pop is the band you should be listening to. After a successful run with their previous record, Hip Hip Hooray delivers the same sweet and intoxicating punk fuzz pop they've come to master. Treading this route the second time around has its benefits though, the band sounds more polished than ever and seem more comfortable with their chosen genre. Be prepared for track after track of energy filled, freaky indie rock mixed with a whole lot of sugary pop when you listen to this record.
