Rei Teytum: Viajeros

A wonderful fusion of rock, funk, folk, jazz, brass with some great sounding guitar, percussion, violin, viola, keyboards, trumpet, sax, bagpipes!?, and yes, even harmonica. It seems that Rei Teytum have it all, except of course for an English version of their bio anywhere on the Internet. So it is times like this that I wish I spoke more languages to bring you important information about the artists. But since that will simply not happen lets focus on their fantastic album, "Viajeros""Travelers", and the tiny bits of band history I was able to get (courtesy of my friend Google Translate).

McKenzie Toma: McKenzie Toma

Lovely vocal work, amazing guitar skills and a very beautiful, calming melodic sound; Mckenzie Toma pretty much knows how to make listeners want more of her music. This Chicago native is currently offering her latest release as a free digital download over BandCamp. It's a six track compilation that is filled with gorgeous indie folk and country songs that'll make any folk lover melt or smile silly. Blessed with a heartwarming and endearing voice, McKenzie captivates her listeners track after track. The record is a first for the singer and with so much obvious talent up her sleeve, it certainly won't be her last. It's a compilation that certainly deserves plenty of exposure. Give this album a download. It won't disappoint.

Greg Houwer: Sauna Planet

Pop rock indie artist, Greg Houwer, has recently released his 12 track full length album entitled, Sauna Planet. The album is a mix of pop rock with a slightly trippy, almost psychedelic vibe. It's released and made available online by WM Recordings. Most of the songs are accompanied with simple acoustic guitars, percussions and melodic low-pitch vocals. I won't recommend this record if you dislike anything that could potentially lull you to sleep. The entire feel of the album is that of a laid back compilation that you might want to play as background music if you are drifting off to sleep in your hammock. So if this is what you are looking for, then look no further than this compilation.

Sea Birds: A Softness

This dreamy bedroom folk compilation is simply breathtaking. Like the album cover image, it's cold, desolate, moody and simply ethereal; all in a good way. A Softness is only 5 songs long but every cut is worth listening to and downloading. Sea Birds is actually Morgan Enos. He is a talented songwriter/singer and he has released several records available for free download on CLLCT. This multi-instrumentalist and folk singer is definitely worth checking out. No matter what moniker he uses, he manages to capture you with his sweet voice and amazing instrument work. A real gem for plenty of indie folk lovers out there.

Derek Clegg: Beautiful World

I greatly admire artists whose passion and personality is strongly reflected in their final craft. I also have a great respect for those who write, compose, record, and produce their music all without the backing of a label and still come out with an album that could make many other musicians jealous. Derek Clegg, a one man band, appeared twice on our blog last year, once with a release of KJC and than with Here Comes Your Fate, Quick Duck. Today he is back with yet another Creative Commons licensed Indie/folk/pop album, Beautiful World, filled with great lyrics and laid back yet diverse sounds that will surely place some of the songs into your 'favorites' playlist - for me this included Innocent, a beautiful track that hopefully will find its way up.

milk white white teeth: The Holy Trinity Ep

Milk White White Teeth are a Leeds collective that play a brand of indie music that is a swirl of indie rock, folk, tropical, progressive music that is infused with effective harmonies that makes for a beautifully big sound that sways as it unfolds. Members are James Hare, Jon Crabbe, Barrie Wilson, Alistair Grant, Polly Meadows, Michelle Clapham, Michael Gill, Chris Clark Alex Thomas and Alex Crabbe. Their latest release, The Holy Trinity Ep has so many influences it's hard to nail them all down. "Long Long (Before)" has echo's of post punk and the recent Canadian explosion of school band extroverts like Arcade Fire. "Long Long (After) is rife with no wave synth influences and prog rock guitars.

Dave Daniels: Songs From Stone Mountain

Songs From Stone Mountain by Dave Daniels is collection of folk pop indie americana tracks that'll give you a taste of what it's like staying in an American bayou or at least in a small American town. The songs in this record evoke a quiet reverie, but there are also some tracks that are upbeat and cleverly intertwine a pop rock sound. This is the artists' first official release and it's available for free download under a creative commons license. You can also check out his latest compilation, Just Like Ghosts, also available for free download.Get a taste of pure American tracks from this wonderful Florida singer/songwriter.
