Ben Lear: Lillian: A Folk Opera

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and composer Ben Lear brews some fresh folk tunes in his debut album, Lillian: A Folk Opera. Released las June 14, 2011, this 14-track collection was described by the Los Angeles Times as "an edgy, experimental folk opera blending acoustic guitar songs with percussive chamber and orchestral music". The album kicks off with a 55-second opening track that technically sets the chill-out ambient mood of the collection. Title track Lillian follows with saccharine guitar play ups and poetic verses that are hard not to fall in love with. Ben's simple delivery blends well with the subtle build up violin solos and steady drum beats.

My Sad Captains: Resolutions EP

My Sad Captains is a four piece group from London whose music evokes thoughts of childish grins on carousel rides; teenage crushes and perfect morning soundtracks. Resolutions is the band's most recent EP. It contains 5 freshly recorded tracks and released by the band as a complement to their most recent record, Fight Less, Win More. This short compilation even includes one single from the album, Resolutions, and contains the same melody filled indie folk sound that allows the band to create a lasting impression.

Wood Spider: Tending Fires

Tending Fires is a simple but engaging compilation that's filled with lo-fi acoustic recordings from a four piece crew that call themselves, Wood Spider. Playing a host of acoustic, punk, freak folk, the album is perfect for those midnight campfires in the middle of nowhere and moon-filled camp reveries with the guitar and friends. Their sound brings to mind Gogol Bordello with the wailing/screaming vocals of Max Bemis of Say Anything. This is actually a split EP with Niko and the Juggler Meadow Family Band. It's a little over a year old and licensed under a Creative Commons License.

Hudson: Eastward

Eastward by Hudson is just the right music you need after going through a barrage of parties & other fast paced craziness thanks to the Holidays. Contained within the compilation is some of the finest and most melodic pieces you'll hear. The band is made up of duo, John Boswell and Will Crowle. With a sound that resembles a sweet and comforting pat on the back, the songs on the record tell the story of a man who goes on a journey to rescue his brother from captivity.

Little Kid: Logic Songs
