Cocolixe: Futuro EP

Cocolixe from Barcelona (Spain) knows how to melt American soul, 60's French pop and old Italian ballads into a minimal electro mini-pop mixture. This is a refreshing cool summer breeze for the lounge at the Mediterranean Sea. He's a composer and electronic alchemist, a restless investigator of the latest trends, and he knows how to delight the audience with his particular melting pot of techniques and styles. His first album brings us stuttering beats, looped voices and a wild mix of styles.

To Disappear: Into E.P.

A rough, melodic, indie alternative rock album; this Intro E.P. by To Disappear certainly makes a statement. The band resonates with a Joy Division/ The Cure vibe that transports you back in time. Hailing from Canada, the group is composed of Ben Sharples, Xavier Martinez Galiana, Jeremy Royal, and Scott Barrow. All of the members shared a common love for 90s alternative rock and Morrissey-esque, melancholic pop and from there the band was born. Intro E.P. was recorded at a home studio and is the first official demo for the band. It's a beautiful mix of haunting vocals, shoegaze rock and pop melancholia.

VV. AA.: Alterazioni

Sostanze Records seem to always deliver when it comes to great electro and techno music, and this time is certainly no different. With beats from some truly amazing DJs, such as Flux, Bebop, Alexis Storm, Digital Brain, and Msl Project, Alterazioni is yet another release that should not go unnoticed. Filled with finger tapping electro sounds, powerful synths, and lots of pure electronic love, the album will surely make you dream about getting right back on the dance floor even if it means turning your living room into the hottest club in town.

StartYourOwnRebellion: LP3020

After years of oppression from Cozack Corporation, Start Your Own Rebellion (SYOR) has made it their business to warn us about the state of humanity in the future. Tired of having their freedom and self-expression quenched, the group are taking matters into their own hands. This might seem a bit cheesy and immediately classed by some people as a bad Gorillaz imitation, but virtual band, SYOR more than delivers. LP3020 is a powerful record incorporating elements of hip hop, alternative and electronica in one solid mixtape. Signed under J. Cole's label, Dreamville Records, SYOR are winning raves left and right for their massive effort. Join their rebellion by taking a listen.

Tiny Fireflies

This tiny release from October of last year might include only three tracks but since all of them got an instant pass to my lovely iTunes library I thought that they just might find their way into yours. In reality Tiny Fireflies are Lisle from the band Fireflies and Kristine from Tiny Microphone. However, together as a duo they call themselves Tiny Fireflies. Their music is a wonderful combination of melancholic, sensitive pop sounds and dreamlike vocals that are sure to catch your attention. Making waves and gaining new amazing fans wherever they go, the duo have already performed some of their new creations at NYC Popfest in May and are on their way to perform in Chicago alongside the Ladybug Transistor.

Tracks to Sync – June 2011 (mp3 mix)

Tracks to Sync, June 2011 (MP3 Mix) is a pretty cool monthly compilation from Free Music Archive. This time around, the mix was inspired and made especially with the FMA online producer in mind. The songs focus on instrumental ambient tracks from new and up-and-coming artists in the indie online music world. There have been several "Tracks to Sync" mixes released on the site as well. Some of the previous ones include two versions of Ten Tracks to Sync, one featuring selections at FMA prior to 2011 and ones that were gathered right at the onset of the year. There's also a special compilation aimed for YouTubers to choose from and use in their videos.

Asalto Al Parque Zoologico: Asalto Al Parque Zoologico EP

Asalto Al Parque Zoologico EP is the self titled release from relative newcomers, Asalto Al Parque Zoologico. This eclectic noise pop electronic band will certainly impress if you love music like this. The songs are interesting on their own but when coupled with sweet feminine vocals and a cool beat; you have a great bunch of tracks worth checking out. This Argentinian band first hit the waves back in 2008 and since then have easily climbed onto the music ladder in their native country. This 5 track EP was a result of recording, mixing, editing and performing for over a year. It's a solid compilation that's definitely worth listening to.

Mind Cinema: Sun Beat

Spearheaded by Javier Elizondo, Priscila Orfanos, and Gerardo Gamez, Mind Cinema is a Monterrey/Vancouver band that creates surreal, numbing soundscapes, perfectly capturing the ambiguity, chaos and beauty of the subconscious. Their sound carefully touches on electronica, ambient and shoegaze indie rock. Sun Beat is the group's first EP. It comes with 8 tracks tinged with dreamy sounds that crosses between the unpredictability of The Flaming Lips and ambient landscapes of Sigur Ros. Listening to the record is like getting blown away into a dreamland where beauty and madness mix freely and are emanating from the same source. It's a record worth having. The group also has several cool videos on Youtube, check those as well. They perfectly capture the band's unique sound.
