Ivan Black: Genuit Machina EP

Based in Mexico, Breathe Compilations has long been a haven of eclectic electronica and dark, dub waves. The label has been around since 2008 and they've become a platform for several releases; offering them all for free download under a Creative Commons License. Ivan Black's Genuit Machina EP consists of 4 tracks that paint ethereal and dark soundscapes; making you feel as if you're walking through a dark, slightly menacing, tunnel in the middle of the night.

Anitek: Sae Yeon

Trip-hop producer, Anitek, has been regularly making an appearance here on the pages of the Frostclick blog, he's dropped by before with two of his previous records in tow as well as being one part of the duo, Tab & Anitek. Trained in the classical arts, Anitek is a proficient pianist; having played for more than 15 years. He also plays cello, guitar, clarinet, drums, bass and is also a scratch DJ on the side. Sae Yeon is the latest project to come out from his bag of tricks. It's an album that bears plenty of trademark Anitek grooves that both old and new fans will enjoy.

Broke For Free: Layers

Layers is the latest chillout release from Tom Cascino, aka Broke For Free. With a prolific number of remixes and releases under his belt, this Santa Cruz artist is sharing his latest compilation absolutely free. The album is a beautiful mixture of synths, drums and mellow instrumental beats that make for a good soundtrack during your nap time or if you just want to zone out and not have to worry about flipping the music controls every couple of minutes. Containing 10 free tracks, the album is offered as a free download under a Creative Commons license.

StrangeZero: Nanofly

Are you itching to go on a feel trip? StrangeZero‘s newest album is your ideal companion. Founded in 1998 by Greek friends Stelios and Io-V, their ambient wet dreams have been a composite of trance music’s former glory and today’s sweeping EDM rhythms — all in bite-sized quantities. With their latest release, Nanofly, the duo promises to “travel with machines, dreams, and whispering screams.”

Psymun: heartsick

Sometimes, all we need is a chill mood setter to go with those introspective moments. The enigmatic Psymun‘s the guy for the job. At only 21 years old “who smokes crack everyday”, he’s definitely on a creative high (got the pun?) as his sixth EP just rolled out last December.

The Human Experience: Inaudible Sounds

If you’ve never heard of a thing such as “inaudible sounds”, then you might have been barking up the wrong tree, all these years. Despite the paradox that it presents, David Block’s project, The Human Experience, offers plenty of these. He musters his skills as a live electronic composer, multi-instrumentalist, and a producer to create a cross-genre instrumental collection for all of us to revel in.

Poison IV: Fly Society

In this day and age where the feminine figure is starting to establish its roots on various branches of this male-fueled world, it’s refreshing to hear them flip conventions too; that, as beautifully executed by Poison IV. Megan Hamilton, who prefers to be called ‘Poison IV’, is not to one to get stuck on one genre. Despite a predominantly “hip-hop-ish” packaging, she transitions from one style to another as she pleases, not minding that she’s dipping into alternative pop, rap, and R&B as well.

Wynter Gordon: Doleo

To paraphrase Ned Stark’s prediction, “Wynter is coming.” Wynter Gordon, that is. After releasing her debut album, the underrated gem With The Music I Die, in 2011, the singer-songwriter is currently busy with her Human Condition EP series, the first of which is last year’s Doleo.

New Lands: Melville

New Lands is a somewhat mysterious band/artist. Hardly anything about them is up online but one thing's for sure, the group has a knack for brooding and sometimes upbeat electro rock that'll convert listeners into fans. Melville is the latest offering from the artist. So far, they've released a total of three compilations, including a self-titled debut in 2006 and another record called, Distant in 2008. This 2010 compilation is actually composed of tracks recorded between 2007 and 2008. They might be a few years old but they've still got that special touch that's worth checking out.
