The Wrecking Room:The Wrecking Room EP

For times when you want to cuddle back up in bed on a rainy, gloomy day; you can count on The Wrecking Room to help add to the beautiful mood. The Wrecking Room is a 7-piece crew from Sydney, Australia. This self-titled short EP was released on BandCamp last October 2011 and comes with 4 simple folk acoustic tracks fit for a laid-back day. Combining some melodic singing with skillfully played guitars; the album explodes with passion, rich arrangements and stories about life.

Aidan Knight: Versicolour

Aidan Knight's music is like listening to a mash-up of Coldplay and Damien Rice. For a long while, the singer/songwriter has been contributing his skills to various bands, playing anything from bass to hardcore drums. For Versicolour though, he showcases a more laid-back acoustic indie folk side that is both soothing and melancholic. Accompanied with soft guitars and an equally emotional voice, the tracks are perfect for lazy afternoons, heartbreaks or just quiet moments where you feel like reminiscing about the many things in your life.

Mayon: So High/So Low

Listening to Mayon makes you want to grab a hammock, lie down and gently fall asleep to its beautiful folk sound. Unfortunately, there's hardly anything about the singer online. It's almost as if the only thing that represents her is her BandCamp page and that's it. Nevertheless, one listen to, So High/So Low, and all your stress seems to go away. Instantly you're transported to some vintage 60s/70s, hippie folk commune where you're invited to simply enjoy the sound.

Jeff Carl: EP

In Jeff Carl’s latest EP, the NY based singer/songwriter is in his honest, fun, live-in-the-moment attitude. Released last August 16, 2011 under Q Productions , this latest musical effort features five acoustic pop songs that are ready to hit the radio waves. Intro track I’ll Be Gone Tomorrrow is packed with just the right dose of sunshine to lift the gloomy days ahead. Jeff’s radio-polished vocals is a treat to the ears.

Will Stratton: Vile Bodies EP

Will Stratton is a folk singer and songwriter that's currently based in New Jersey. Creating beautiful sets of indie folk music, it's hard not to get lost in his sweet guitars and vocals. Stratton is no stranger in the music industry. He's released several records including his 2005 debut album, What The Night Said, which featured Sufjan Stevens on oboe. This was followed by 2009's No Wonder and a set of free, downloadable EP's including this one. Vile Bodies is an EP composed of 5 tracks and was released as a free download back in September 2009.

MJMJ Records: Back in Bizniss

MJMJ Records is a small "cassette label" that love to deliver eclectic, home spun music to their audience. The label is made up of friends Andy and Charlie. Both are currently based in LA and building up the record from scratch after suffering through some setbacks. Back in Bizniss, as the title implies, is a celebratory compilation of sorts. After a near shutdown, MJMJ (Two Michael Jordans) is moving forward and continuing their foray into the indie music world by creating a great compilation. It's filled with music from various indie bands and musicians that are worth checking out.

Diner House: Selections from the Diner House Family Bands

Not much is offered online about this project except for the fact that it's the first installation in a compilation and features some really beautiful songs from talented artists. Composed of 10 selections from amazing artists, Selections from the Diner House Family Bands, is a tasty sandwich of punk, alternative, folk, and acoustic that offer up a real treat. It offers music from bands such as Wood Spider, Whale, Whale, Whale, Michael Ditrio, Hyena, and The Rotten Jazz Quartet among many others.

Evan Uhlmann: Blue Lipstick

Evan Uhlmann has a knack for creating fun pop songs, complete with cheeky lyrics and a catchy melody. It's the type of songs you won't mind playing even if you aren't big on pop music at all. Born in Chicago, Uhlmann now calls New York City his home. While studying in Wales, he was under the tutelage of Ray Davies, among the founding members of the British band, The Kinks. Just last year in September, he released his first debut record and called it, Blue Lipstick. Combining pop with acoustic indie rock guitar work, the record contains songs that are playful and with good composition.

Balthazar B and the Beatitudes: Like Shrapnel

Balthazar B and the Beatitudes might seem like an odd name choice for a band but there's definitely nothing odd about their sound. Creating a beautiful mix of indie folk and rock, Balthazar B and his ever-revolving cast is bent on sharing their gorgeous melodic sound to anybody who wants to listen. The group was founded and fronted by Paris based musician, Baltazar B. To complete his sound, he enlists the help of friends from various walks of life, some of them doctors others "geeks and religious scholars." This helps create a fresh menagerie of sound that's a certain delight to listen to. Like Shrapnel is a short EP that was recorded in pockets of time between Paris and London.
