The Wild: Set Yourselves Free

These four Atlanta natives have a penchant for making complaining and criticism seem fun and positive. The Wild is a quartet made up of Kylee on drums, Dianna on vocals, Ben on bass and Steve on Banjo. Described by Asia Man Records as "four punks from Atlanta sing songs from the heart, à la Jason Anderson and Ghost Mice. Political, but not preachy. All members are quite active in their DIY community.." the group is not only making an impression in their own label, but also to a lot of indie music lovers online. Set Yourselves Free includes 8 tracks that contain a mix of indie folk and pop music. Each track seems like a blissful serenade at first impression but when you listen closely, it's actually filled with personal and relevant musings about life, people, relationships and politics. Cool album to check out.

Open Sonic

If you are a big Sonic the Hedgehog fan and enjoy the many titles that was released under Sega back in the day; you'll be glad to know that now there's a free version that you can download and play. Open Sonic is a free Sonic game that reflects the original style of gameplay (along with some modern twists). The game is released by opensnc.sourceforge.net. The cool thing about this game is that it contains almost everything that you've come to love from playing this blue hedgehog. The graphics are great and you carry almost every skill that Sonic and his friends have. Enjoy this awesome open source version of Sonic and his friends. You'll definitely have a grand time getting in touch with your inner kid.

Magic Planet Snack

Here's another wizard you can learn to love. Magic Planet Snack is a colorful game that finds you playing a wizard that has accidentally turned himself into a worm. Now, you go on a quest to satisfy your hunger and devour the rest of the wizards that don't like you very much. In your journey, you end up devouring plenty of sweets and other tasty treats. You even chew your way and devour entire worlds just to quench your appetite. In the process, you gain points. Magic Planet Snack features fun and pastel bright colors. It also has a fun gameplay that anybody can enjoy off the bat. The actual storyline is a bit morbid (read it here) but thank god, the developers don't really dwell on it that much. Anyway, this'll certainly give you a good time for an hour or two.

Cut & Paste

Cut & Paste isn't your typical sidescroller game. This cute and engaging game was actually a finalist in IGF China 2010. The game features unconventional gameplay, where players will need to cut and paste objects in order to complete puzzles and obstacles. In the game, you can use a handrawn character to move from left to right. The entire game is like a big flipbook and your character can jump from one page to the next. You can also go back several pages if you need to. As you go through the pages, you sometimes encounter pictures that are of a different shade; you can cut these and keep it in your inventory. Easily paste it onto another page that requires the item that you obtained. Definitely a cool game you should try out.

Chris Skinner – Moscow Satellites

Moscow Satellites is a short 5-track compilation from Chris Skinner. This record is actually a concept album from the artist. It's the first set of tracks he's put together after his band 6point4 as well as Life Support ended in 2008. The record was initially released back in 2009. If you listen closely, you'll hear that John Mayer similarity. Of course, in my opinion, the tracks on this record have more of a personality to them. Besides, at least we won't have to swallow all of the unnecessary information about Mayer's love life. Anyway, Chris Skinner definitely knows how to create beautiful cuts that are not only filled with intriguing guitar work but also coupled with his heartfelt vocals. Give it a listen.

Intercontinental Music Lab: IIML Goes to War

The Intercontinental Music Lab has finally come out with their latest effort. A compilation of 14 tracks that combine folk, pop, rock, alternative, jazz and everything in between. Intercontinental Music Lab Goes to War is the latest effort from this experimental group. Basically, the group/organization has been around since 2008 and has released five previous albums. Each record revolves around a theme or concept, which musicians or groups can pick a subject from and create music about. It's much more detailed than that of course, but the result is nevertheless, an epic collaboration between musicians and artists. This is one great record to have by your side whether you're heading out to war or not.

Rogue Survivor

If you're up for some hardcore gaming (and hooked on Walking Dead right now), then check out Rogue Survivor. With plenty of things to explore, this roguelike sandbox game will definitely fizzle your brains and give you a good challenge. In Rogue Survivor you get no special skills or powers. You simply play average Joe trying to fend off and survive a zombie infestation. For every day you successfully fight off these brain eating creatures, you gain more skills and you level up. Basically, your main goal is to stay alive for as long as possible. Of course, you can always fork over to the other side by becoming a zombie and see just how many humans you can eat. Fun game that's well worth several hours of your day.
