Colours of Melancholia

Colours of Melancholia is the one-man project of Berlin based musician, Sebastian. It's an album that leaves you great window seats to the artist's sonic exploration. Initially influenced by heavy metal, rock and punk; Sebastian says he's always been fascinated in sampling as well as experimental types of production. This interest then led to this self-titled debut record. The compilation is a lush landscape of sound; showcasing great use of beats, samples and synths to create a pleasing album worth noting.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum – The Concert: Selections, Summer 2012

For all the classical music lovers out there, Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is offering a great number of free classical compilations/podcasts for you to enjoy. The Concert series features live recordings from both young and seasoned contemporary classical artists. Their latest offering are the Selections recorded for Summer 2012. It contains 18 tracks from a host of talented musicians, playing their own versions of some of your favorite classical pieces.

Pinegrove: Meridian

Ushering a flow of smooth indie teen pop that's accompanied by syncopated guitars and sprinkled with rock elements; Meridian is a record that easily creates a good impression. The group responsible for this sweet and melodic compilation is Brooklyn-based quartet, Pinegrove. Even if you might not like it straight away, it's an album that grows on you, slowly embedding itself as it hauls along its lush sound.

Cloudkicker: Let Yourself Be Huge

Let Yourself Be Huge is an instrumental compilation that's filled with beautiful guitar picking and the occasional electro rock sound. The guy manning all of these eclectic sounds is Ben Sharp, aka Cloudkicker. The Boston, Ohio native is no stranger to creating and releasing records. He's had over 6 compilations released since 2008 and this latest effort only showcases how his sound has evolved from before.

Risky Heroes: She Said

Describing themselves as a band that draws inspiration from "love and fools," Sheffield's Risky Heroes have a knack for creating that signature indie pop rock sound. The band has been together since 2008 and after two fruitful years, they managed to release their debut EP, Hearts A Pounding. This landed them a UK single deal and a tour from On Records. She Said is their latest compilations, rolling off the presses and offered for free since May 2012.

The Ugly Club: You Belong to The Minutes

After a successful run with, Visions of a Tall Girl, which has gathered more than 100,000 downloads on the Frostclick site. Indie psych band, The Ugly Club is making sure they leave you impressed with their latest record, You Belong to the Minutes. These New Jersey natives have brewed a quiet storm in their short presence; creating two albums and going from small bars to performing the festival circuit as well as gracing national concert stages in a short time span.

Hypatia Lake: Ouroboros

It's easy to spot which iconic rock band has inspired much of Hypatia Lake's' sound. From the magnificent dirty guitars, those shouty vocals and a dark, sinister vibe; Ouraboros channels quite a bit of Sabbath and Led Zeppelin in its tracks. Hailing from Seattle, Ouroboros is the fourth record from the crew. It's a concept album of sorts as the band has created unique tracks that revolve around the epic battles and excursion of protagonist, Rose Marie. Serving as a nice throwback to 70s rock and expansive concept records, the album flourishes and entices listeners to enter into its sonic landscape.

NazcarNation: Dynazty EP

NazcarNation isn't really a band about racing or anything like that, instead they're an electronic indie pop chillwave trio that creates pulsating and catchy tracks. Founded in 2008 by Chris Wargo and Craig Robert Smith, the band first started out back in LA. Drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Mark Balane, soon joined in and they ended up recording most of the tracks on the EP. Skillfully fusing hip hop, ambient, and electronica; theirs songs have a midtempo chill out beat that's easy on the ears.

Nation Ruckus: The Pre-Tape

Gotta admit, how many hip hop rap groups do you know from Canada? If you answered one or two or maybe none, then here's a great act to check out: Nation Ruckus. The trio is a hip hop collective made up of "rapper Milk-E Fresh, beat-maker Quality and DJ WiM." Taking a cue from groups like The Beastie Boys, Outkast and even The Roots; the boys spin their own rhymes while creating luscious and catchy beats that anyone can enjoy. The Pre-Tape contains 11-tracks that serve as a prelude to their upcoming album. It's available for free and meant for anyone interested in checking out their sound.
