Ringdroid has been around since 2008, but it is still one of the best when it comes to creating ringtones for your Android. We use ringtones to notify us if there is a call, text message and other notifications, and it is also a cool way to personalize your mobile. Sure there are programs for your desktop that can do this, but this app is more convenient as it is on your mobile already.
Ringdroid is open source and while improvements have been added through the years, it is still easy to use. When the app is installed, it only takes a few steps to get that ringtone ready.
When you launch the app, it will display every mp3 file that is on your Android device. Choose the one you like and tap it. This will bring up a volume unit meter. Now you just tap and slide the left slider to move the track back or forward.
Next, drag the right slider to determine the section length. Once you are happy with the length, tap the play button. Adjust the left and right sliders until you are satisfied with the length.
If you are content with the selection, tap Save and the app will assign it as a ringtone. There is also an option to attach the ringtone to a contact. What is even more amazing is Ringdroid does all this at less than 400 kb.
The app is mainly for ringtones, but you can use the same steps above to create notifications and alarms. Overall, it is a handy tool to have.
