If you have never heard of Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, you need to do yourself a favor and check out this folk rock band. Their albums have appeared on the Billboard Charts, and their songs have been used on some popular TV series like Criminal Minds and How I Met Your Mother.
The Tennessee-based was formed in 2006 by lead vocalist Drew Holcomb. Holcomb and the other members apparently decided to name the band Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors because they live in the same zip code.
The Collection is a compilation of some of the best songs from Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors. It was released in 2013 to commemorate the band’s fourth album Good Light and includes the titular track of the project. Good Life turned out to be one of the band’s most successful albums to date. Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors have released more albums since then including their latest titled Souvenir.
The songs on The Collection include grooving folk tunes and soft rock melodies. The topics that Holcomb covers range from love to compassion for others.
Holcomb’s soulful voice gives his poetic lyrics a touch of honesty. In Fire and Dynamite, he sings “Some people talk to angels/Some people talk to themselves/But I don’t know who you’re talking to/But everything you say makes me want you/You are a novel in a sea of magazines…”
