Groove Coaster 2 from the Taito Corporation is a rhythm game, and it’s the follow up to the successful Groove Coaster. If you played the original or any type of rhythm game, you’ll find it easy to get into. Groove Coaster 2 takes all that was good in the first game and added even more features.
You’re a neon light that moves along the string moving like a roller coaster. Once you get to a target, an action needs to be performed, and the game judges your performance.
These targets are comprised of musical elements. Your response determines how quickly you fill the groove bar on top of the screen, and once you do, it’s time to move onto the next level.
The simple gameplay makes it simple to get into Groove Coaster 2. There is an easy level for beginners and difficult if you want more challenges. The default control system has you tapping, swiping or tapping and holding depending on the target.
You can also tap the microphone icon and use your mobile’s mic to control movements. With this option you can use audio like the sound of a spoon and move to the beat.
Of course this game is all about the music, and Groove Coaster 2 doesn’t disappoint. The styles range from funk to electronica and trippy, but all of them have this distinct Japanese sound to them.
From the sounds to the graphics, Groove Coaster 2 should satisfy fans of music games and it is one heck of an audiovisual ride.
