YouTube High Definition is a Firefox add-on that will play all YouTube videos in HD. Developed by Baris Derin, it’s a nice and free extension that will allow you to watch YouTube without having to change the settings for each video – every time, along with doing a bit more.
You install YouTube HD the same way as any other Firefox add-ons, and it’s ready to go. Not only does it play all videos in HD, but it turns the annotations off, has auto mute for the video and there’s an auto stop feature too. The add on also makes it easy to change the video size so you can switch from the default to full screen quickly.
One of the more common complaints with YouTube videos is that some of the features are lost when it’s on other sites like Facebook, but YouTube HD provides support for those so you don’t have to tinker with this extension a lot.. More than anything else, what this add on does is eliminate the various annoyances that come when watching YouTube videos, making the experience just that much more fun.
While YouTube HD is set to to play all videos in HD by default, you can change that option so it plays other resolutions ranging from 144p, 240p, 360p etc. all the way to 4K (2160p). This feature will come in handy if you’ve got a slower Internet connection and can only play in a lower resolution. Any way you look at it, YouTube HD is a worthwhile add on to your Firefox browser.
