How about a “sound” trip to Europe?
Hailing from the land of hamburgers, beer, and Rammstein comes Leipzig-based duo Wooden Peak, composed of Sebastian Bode (for drums, electronics, and vocals) and Jonas Wolter (for guitar, foot organ, and vocals).
Judging by their EP, Polygon, however, tells us that the boys come from the ‘chill’ side of the spectrum. “Blender” immediately gives away the idea that their trippy and raw sound is the type suited for intimate bars and lazy weekend afternoons.
“Floe” picks up the pace, and is as unique as it is at par with the best of American indie. By the time “Oleander” kicks in, we’ll be slow-waltzing our feet across the floor despite the fact that there are no vocals this time.
Though the finale tracks, “Miss Goodman” and “The Early Bird,” get the honor of being bestowed as favorites, as their quirky lyrics mesh quite well with the duo’s smooth instrumentations and effortless harmonies.
A slow burner, that’s what Polygon is.
