PhotoMath is an app that’s designed to help anyone with problems in math or need to do some serious number crunching. But don’t think that it’s a calculator, as it isn’t. Instead you scan the equations you need to solve, and the app will do it for you. Developed by PhotoPay, this is clearly one useful app.
Once you’ve installed the app, you can start using it by scanning the equation that you want solved via your mobile device’s camera. That’s all there is to it, you just scan and the app do the rest. Currently the app can only solve equations on printed paper and not handwritten. However that’s hardly an issue since it can read equations on textbooks and computer screens.
For PhotoMath to work correctly you need to scan with a steady hand. It might take a few seconds to scan the equation depending on how complex it is, but it works fine. Once the app is ready it will give you the solution as well as a step by step guide explaining how it got there.
The step by step solution is a very useful feature especially if you are trying to learn how the equation works. Every scan is stored separately so you can check it out and see how the solution came to be. For this reason, it makes for a great educational and research tool.
PhotoMath provides support for most math equations like decimals, fractions, percent, linear equations and more. This is definitely a useful tool that educators and other people will find useful.
