Get to know new wave rock band BRONCHO in their five-track sampler released via Noisetrade. In this collection, the Oklahoma-based trio crafts sleek, groove-inducing melodies with guitar-driven instrumentation and a fuzzy atmosphere.
According to their Noisetrade page, BRONCHO’s signature sound is effortless rock music that dips its toe into a variety of different styles without ever succumbing to any of them. Two of the tracks in this sampler (Class Historian and It’s On) are also included in the band’s latest album, Just Enough Hip To Be Woman, released on September 16.
Class Historian wins the listeners ears with groovy guitar pieces that are layered with fuzzy vocal samples. By infusing a certain rock-and-roll groove, BRONCHO manages to elevate this piece into a highly infectious track that replays in your mind even after you’ve finished listening to it.
The second single, It’s On, which is also featured in their new album, pumps out hip tunes that exhausts from sounds associated with vinyl shops and old basements: surf rock, prog, and new wave.
Try Me Out Sometime garages with hues of gritty guitar strokes paired with rapid drum beats that are cleverly placed at the right moments. There’s plenty of surf rock tunes here to create a funky, youthful vibe.
Whether it’s the moments of groove or the teenage memories we associate when listening to the album, BRONCHO sounds like they’re having fun making this sampler. The tracks here are reflections of the band’s experimentation with different genres, and we couldn’t wait to hear more.
