Fast Keyboard is an iOS notes taking app with a unique keyboard layout whereby the text column is reserved the smallest area while the rest of the display is used for inserting special characters. Because of this design, there’s no need for the shift key in a keyboard.
The keyboard in Fast Keyboard may take some getting used to, but once you’re over that you’ll see just how effective it can be. The app also has support for Dropbox synching and is integrated with Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook. But this app isn’t just about the keyboard, as its text editing features are also good. It can for instance, edit and save in different text formats, and there are word count and search features as well.
In addition, Fast Keyboard can also SMS and send email as you type. There’s a learning curve yes, but it isn’t that steep. It should be pointed out that you can only use the keyboard within the app, as Apple doesn’t allow third party developers to replace the default that the iOS uses.
Even so, it’s very effective and the text editing functions are as convenient. Aside from being able to insert special characters, there is a toolbar with tools for cutting, copying, pasting, undo and redo among other functions.
