SpaceSniffer is a free Windows application from Uderzo Software that makes it simple for you to assess your files and folders. There are many similar applications available for Windows, but this one is still worth a look because of its features. It’s powerful but surprisingly easy to use.
SpaceSniffer uses a Treemap visualization system, giving you a quick snapshot of your files and folders, very handy. If you want to learn more, just start scanning, and you can click the image to see more detail. All you need to do is keep selecting elements to find more information about them.
If you’re inspecting a small folder, double click it and it will zoom in so you can see more. Aside from that, SpaceSniffer supports drag and drop, and the export module allows you to generate text reports plus there is support for different media views. But the biggest strength of SpaceSniffer is its design, as it allows you to go through elements like a web browser.
SpaceSniffer also makes good use of the right mouse click, as you can use it to access the file popup menu and the Windows folders. Aside from those features, the application allows you to limit the view by using a set of criteria you can input. It also lets you tag files temporarily and apply filtering.
SpaceSniffer’s functionality goes beyond these though, as it allows you to look at a media in different ways. Other features include single scan, smart cached scanning, zooming a refined area and many more. Better yet is the fact that you don’t even need to install this program, and it is portable.
