Chase last year’s blues away with a record that’s sure to transport your senses back to the yesteryears.
Live At Blues Alley, a collection of jazz tunes recorded live, definitely fits the bill. It’s brought to us by the long-standing U.S. Army Blues, an Army Dance Band that entertained soldiers and civilians in dance zones during World War II.
In 2010, most members of the band got together at the renowned Blues Alley to record a set of swingin’ tunes — America’s “indigenous art form alive” — that’ll be preserved and distributed freely this time for the present generation to revel in.
Right after the introduction, the first track, “Main Stew“, kicks off to a pompous start, which, right away, undoubtedly brings you to the “roaring ’20s” — a poignant period where Gatsby is at home in throwing his parties. The rhythm goes up another level at “Not On The Bus“, and you’ll know that the ship won’t be sailing away this time.
We’ve got the blues alright, blues to last us throughout the [even] bluer times.
