While email clients have spam filters built in they’re often ineffective and junk mail somehow still gets in. Fortunately there is Spamihilator, a free program that works between the Web and your email client that will check for signs of spam. Developed by Michel Krämer Buchenweg, it’s an effective way to eliminate the unwanted emails.
Once the application is installed, every single unsolicited and useless email you get will be removed. Spamihilator runs in the background so it doesn’t get in your way. Unlike other free email filters, this program uses many filters that allow it to detect spam and distinguish it from your important emails. The program has a Learning Filter that allows it to recognize 98% of all spam and you can also train the filter so you can get the messages you want.
The application also has a Spam Word Filter that can look for keywords in messages, and you can use regular expressions and user defined words. If that’s not enough, Spamihilator also uses the Rule filter, DCC and Link filters, and you can configure them in different ways. If you want to increase the power of Spamihilator you can go to its Training Area where you can adjust its recognition rate and add plugins.
While the default settings on the program work fine, it is very configurable and you can change many options. If you get a lot of junk mail and spend a good portion of your day deleting them, Spamihilator can help you out. It’s easy to use and does what it is supposed to do.
