Planetary is a free music visualizer for the iPad. Listening to music on your tablet involves scrolling through playlists and staring every now and then at album art. With this free app from Bloom Studio the artists and albums in your music library are displayed as stars floating in the cosmos. It is in short, unique and visually arresting.
With a few swipes and taps you can change the arrangement of the stars, and it is a lot of fun just tweaking around the settings and watching the galaxy spin around slowly. At the bottom of the display are additional controls allowing you to filter by playlists or artists, and if you dig deeper into the settings you will be able to make use of the iPad gyroscope that allows for even greater interaction with the universe in your device.
Almost everything here can be customized and if you want to remove the planetary orbit lines and text labels you can do so with ease. Every song is represented as a moon, each album is a planet and each artist is a star. The more songs you have in your library, the more stars will be displayed. But you can limit the number to be displayed so the screen doesn’t appear too crowded. The more often you play a song, the large its moon becomes.
The fact of the matter is that it is hard to put into words just how visually stunning Planetary for the iPad is. If you love music and want some gorgeous visuals to go along with it, you can’t do without this. It’s free so there no reason not to check it out.
