How would you feel if the other half of you – your partner in life, your husband, your wife, the person you swore you would spend your life with–finally leaves you?
What would be each day like knowing that when you open your eyes in the morning, you are alone–with no one to share your smiles, with no one to share “I love you’s”, too? Everything might seem terrible, and nothing could make you feel any better.
Written and directed by Liam Gavin, this award-winning film Jericho follows the journey of a man who was losing his own life as his wife just lost hers out of a medical condition. You may find yourself empathizing for this man as you feel the sadness in his silence. The brilliance of the acting and direction are projected as you look at his face–the age, loneliness, and desperation.
He lingered to whatever he could hold on to–things that belonged to his wife. Let his pain move you, as the emptiness of the house bored him down, as he tried to finish his own life, as he started seeing things and become dependent on pills, and finally, as he broke down.
Even before you get to the middle of this short film, you might curse the day this happens to you. But watch, still, and see how a person copes with death, and life that has to go on.
