Think of Mendeley Desktop as a social network for serious academic researchers and professionals. By joining the network you can review, critique, edit and post academic research. It is not just an interactive network; it is a research tool and reference manager.
To use Mendeley, you need to sign up for a free account. Your first name, last name and email address are required. You can download the free software after registration is complete. There is a setup wizard to guide you. You will receive a confirmation email. Click and you will gain access to the Dashboard. From the Dashboard you can go to People, Groups, My Library Papers and the other options.

You can start using it. You can add your PDF files, research papers and notes. The interface makes it easy to use all the tools at your disposal. On the network you will have access to materials posted by your fellow researchers, technical databases, scientific and medical papers.
Mendeley makes it easy to share information with other researchers. Information is synced on mobile and desktop computers. The program is easy to use thanks to its navigation panel and toolbars. The interface is similar to an email client. You can use them to sync data and folders.
The toolbar buttons consist of Sync Library, Create Folder and Add Documents, all of which are self-explanatory. You can drag and drop documents for easy arrangements. There are video tutorials, Twitter and Facebook accounts to help new users. Of course you can ask other users for advice on how to use the software.
