Skyscanner

Skyscanner is an app that lets you search flights from around the world. When you use the app, you’ll be able to locate the most affordable dates and flights around. After downloading and setting up the program, it will ask for your present location so it can locate the nearest flight. You can choose OK or “don’t allow”. Choose OK when you are ready to use the app.

If you tap OK, you’ll be given information about the nearest airport. Skyscanner will also tell you where the flights in your area are located. The screen will also have information on what days a flight is returning or departing, where airports fly to and the closest airport. You can modify the search options to show only direct flights.

If you want to change the settings, just tap ‘Settings” at the top. Aside from search preferences, you can change the language, the billing country and what the currency to be shown. The “Explore” button is where you choose a destination. Just click the area or type the place. You can zoom the map out to get a better look.

If the return and departure dates are left at “any day”, the program will display a 12 month price chart. This is one of the most exceptional features of Skyscanner. If your flight dates are flexible, you can look up the most affordable rates available.

A scrollable list of airline prices and flights are shown once you enter your departure/return flight. The list can be filtered by duration of flight, airline, landing time, take off time and more.

For the frequent traveler, Skyscanner is an indispensible app. The software can run on the iPhone as well.
