The Embracers is one of those bands that are likable because they have a sound that’s so familiar. Despite belonging to a saturated genre, they manage to hold their own ground and deliver a record that captures a laid-back, lounging-on-the-couch-being-cool vibe.

Tasteful Thicknes Vol. 1 is their latest online release. It’s being offered as a free download over at BandCamp and serves as an awesome introduction for the band.

Currently, the five-piece has been on the road and doing the rounds in festivals which is helping them gain and solidify a steady fanbase.

Listening  to The Embracers is actually quite relaxing. There’s no denying that there’s a lot of “hipster lovin” coming from their music but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Their songs are a mixture of experimental indie rock coated with a few surprises here and there.

Their short compilation begins with, New Reflections. An easily likable song that has all the makings of a radio hit. It has great production quality, moreover, the single has a catchy refrain that’s beautifully complemented by simple instruments. On the other hand, Chameleon captures that quiet, remoreseful atmosphere without really going sappy. You’ll find skillful guitars and vocals on this one.

Tasteful Thickness Vol. 1 closes off with Borderline Perfect. With the characteristic vocals brought into play, careful lyrics as well as catchy overall beat; the song serves as icing to an already tasty cake.

The album is short. It would have been advantageous if it was longer but that’s just me craving more tracks from a great sounding band. This one is definitely worth checking out. Get to the download and enjoy!
