Another great album from Sweden? Sure, why not. Meet Silverpennies. Following their previous two successful releases, the trio (Adam Leslie Jonsson, Anders Ludwigsson, and Oskar Eriksson) bring us their most recent EP Come On Villains.
Filled with beautiful melodies, lovely piano, great vocals worthy of a radio hit, and lyrics that will make you sing along as you go about your day, the EP is a nice, and free, little treat from across the continent.
There is not a lot of information about the boys out there, in fact this short little bio is most of what I was able to find: “Silverpennies is ambivalence and childhood romance. Silverpennies is a dirty puppy. Silverpennies is your friend whilst running past the cemetery on your way home. Silverpennies is the gremlin under your bed.” Although only a few sentences long, the little description provides us with a sneak peak into the playfulness of the recording and the refreshing originality that the band brings with them.
Come On Villains is probably my favorite out of the three EPs released by the artists and begins with one of my favorite tracks. Hello Schoolyard is full of catchy guitar, computer generated sounds, and powerful vocals that just might make you fall in love with the alternative indie pop all over again. As you go along you will be caught in the web of fun and quirky lyrics of the Lonely Little Spaceman, gorgeous piano melodies and cabaret feel of Pills & Foil, and the memorable chorus and the overall originality of the Those Demons.
Although only four songs long, the EP is definitely a great addition to any alternative pop enthusiast’s music library. So head straight to bandcamp and get yourself a free download while they last.
