One of the finalists for Ludum Dare 20, Questling, is an interesting puzzle game that will certainly give you a good challenge. The gameplay is similar to that of Psygnosis‘ iconic game, Lemmings.
The game was designed as an entry for the Ludum Dare 20 Game Development competition. The tournament is aimed at urging indie game makers to create and develop a game in roughly 48 hours only. Each tournament has a theme that developers must follow and exhibit in their finished work.
Your main objective in the game is to lead a couple of adventurers towards the exit. You’re the head honcho in this department so everything you do, the rest of your crew will follow. There are about 15 ‘follow-the-leader’ stages and you have to make sure to avoid any obstacles on the way.
You have several types of characters in the game and they each have special skills as well as abilities. For instance, rogues can detect and disarm any traps that are up ahead while knights can easily fight against orcs. Moreover, mages can heal as well as levitate various objects. Hotkeys are provided so players can easily switch between characters.
Overall, the game is pretty good. It has a pretty enjoyable game-play even if the puzzles are a bit simple. The music can be a bit annoying at times but the graphics are quite decent.
