Henrik José, formally known as Bliss, comes to us from Malmö, Sweden. He started making music with computers all the way back in 1995 and has been sharing his free and amazing sounds ever since 1997. And now, after a break spinning nearly three years, Henrik is finally back with his latest release of The Little Things (and I have to say it was well worth the wait).
The EP, available through the netlabel 23 Seconds (hosting some of the great young aspiring artists) and being the first official release under his real name, is a perfect example of wonderfully put together electronica/pop sounds for just about any ear.
Henrik José’s work is not a stranger to the world of free quality music. All of his releases were met with great reviews from fans including the blogosphere, and his songs were frequently used in many netlabel compilations from netBlock (blockSonic) to the Phlow Magazine’s Pop Music Compilation.
So what can I say; if you still didn’t get with the rest of us be sure to listen to the album now and stay in the loop.
The EP starts with Rich and Timeless, a short introductory piece filled with intensive monotonic elements and deep melody, which provides us with a beautifully composed bridge into the rest of the EP. The Little Things is one of the first, if not the very first, album for which I could not pinpoint the favorite song; and you know that when that happens there has to be something special about the music. For me it is its simple yet complex nature that is a ideal companion for just about any time of a day or just about any mood. But the true magic of this release comes from its intensive elements found in most of the tracks that are also accompanied by a slow and laid back atmosphere – drenched in perfect hypnotic pop melodies. All this with a touch of some great vocals by the artist.
