Here’s another cool compilation from Cologne Commons that you can sink your teeth into. Cologne Commons Compilation 05 is a mix of indie pop, electronic ambient sounds that carefully showcases some of the best netlabel acts Germany has to offer.
This awesome festival is a great place where businesses, artists, musicians and netlabels gather to celebrate everything and anything creative commons represents.
As expected, the 5th installment of the Cologne Commons Compilation is filled with 12 awesome cuts that makes you wonder why these artists would ever offer their music for free. Luckily for us, they do.
The album opens up with a sweet number from The Black Atlantic. Heirloom is an indie folk pop masterpiece that quietly sets the mood for a rainy afternoon. Majority of the other cuts are straight up dub and techno. With one of my favorites from this bunch being Humiliating the Distorted from mr&mrsbrian. It’s hard not to head bob against the low fi drum and bass beat. The weird cartoony voices and the grungy, dirty guitar work also sounds cool.
Another sexy set is Zoe.LeelA’s U.G.L.Y. Incidentally, this same track is featured in another equally awesome creative commons compilation, all2gethernow.
